FSSS CROWNED MS. CAFSD 2026!

Ms. Hannah Yanillete Luis, a 3rd-year Bachelor of Science in Agriculture major in Soil Science student, was crowned Ms. CAFSD 2026 during the Mr. and Ms. CAFSD 2026 pageant held at Mariano Marcos State University - Teatro Ilocandia. She dazzled on the stage in a shining green gown. Meanwhile, Mr. Jaycris Rogante, a 4th-year Bachelor of Science in Agriculture major in Soil Science student, also proudly represented the organization during the event.

After securing a spot in the Top 3, Ms. Luis answered with poise and wisdom during the final Q&A portion, highlighting the role of youth in keeping traditional arts and cultural heritage in the age of digital media and modern trends. Luis stated that "At the end of the day, digital media and traditional culture will combine with the effort of the youth because we youth should not forget where we came from because that is our root, and that is our identity"

Congratulations, Ms. Luis will be representing CAFSD in the upcoming UNIGAMES 2026.

𝙄𝙉 𝙋𝙃𝙊𝙏𝙊𝙎| Agro Eco Veda Academic & Cultural Exchange

‎The students from BS in Agriculture major in Soil Science (3rd and 4th year) actively participated in the 𝗔𝗴𝗿𝗼 𝗘𝗰𝗼 𝗩𝗲𝗱𝗮 𝗔𝗰𝗮𝗱𝗲𝗺𝗶𝗰 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗖𝘂𝗹𝘁𝘂𝗿𝗮𝗹 𝗘𝘅𝗰𝗵𝗮𝗻𝗴𝗲 at the Center for Flexible Learning, Library Building, Mariano Marcos State University on August 12, 2026. It was a very valuable sequence of technical lectures, which started with the lecture of Natalya Schegolkova “𝗖𝗮𝗹𝗰𝘂𝗹𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗕𝗶𝗼𝗰𝗵𝗲𝗺𝗶𝗰𝗮𝗹 𝗙𝗹𝘂𝘅𝗲𝘀 𝗶𝗻 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗠𝗼𝗱𝗲𝗿𝗻 𝗪𝗼𝗿𝗹𝗱: 𝗡𝗲𝘄 𝗧𝗿𝗲𝗻𝗱𝘀”. This was followed by Konstantin Romanenko's presentation titled “𝗘𝘅𝗮𝗺𝗽𝗹𝗲𝘀 𝗼𝗳 𝗦𝘂𝗰𝗰𝗲𝘀𝘀𝗳𝘂𝗹 𝗔𝗳𝗳𝗼𝗿𝗲𝘀𝘁𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻 𝘄𝗼𝗿𝗹𝗱𝘄𝗶𝗱𝗲 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗪𝗵𝘆 𝗔𝗳𝗳𝗼𝗿𝗲𝘀𝘁𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻 𝗵𝗮𝘀 𝗯𝗲𝗰𝗼𝗺𝗲 𝗮 𝗚𝗹𝗼𝗯𝗮𝗹 𝗧𝗿𝗲𝗻𝗱" and ended with Stefania Karimova's talk on “𝗦𝗰𝗶𝗲𝗻𝘁𝗶𝗳𝗶𝗰 𝗔𝗽𝗽𝗿𝗼𝗮𝗰𝗵𝗲𝘀 𝘁𝗼 𝗦𝘁𝘂𝗱𝘆𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗙𝗼𝗿𝗲𝘀𝘁 𝗥𝗲𝘀𝘁𝗼𝗿𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻 𝗣𝗿𝗼𝗰𝗲𝘀𝘀 𝗶𝗹𝗹𝘂𝘀𝘁𝗿𝗮𝘁𝗲𝗱 𝗯𝘆 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗟𝗼𝗺𝗯𝗼𝗸 𝗣𝗿𝗼𝗷𝗲𝗰𝘁". This was a great learning experience for our future Soil Scientists on Environmental sustainability, Soil-Nutrient interactions and global reforestation programmes.

The newly elected officers are now ready to lead the Future Soil Scientists' Society to dig deeper and cultivate interesting and new activities toward a grounded and impactful academic year ahead. They are passionate and energetic to make things happen and ready to serve, inspire, and grow together.

The Future Soil Scientists Society (FSSS) held its 1st General Assembly and Election on July 24, 2026. During the event, the outgoing FSSS president presented the organization’s Accomplishment Report and Financial Statement for A.Y. 2025–2026.
The FSSS family also officially welcomed 16 new soil science majors!

Digital Mapping and Assessment Program

The Department of Agriculture – Bureau of Soil and Water Management conducted a capacity-building cm technical briefing on digital mapping and sensory imaging on July 21–23, 2026. The event was attended by two 4th-year soil science majors, Justine Cholo V. Dalusen and Aira Marie F. Lincuna. The students participated in hands-on training using digital mapping platforms, particularly QField and QGIS, to generate a crop classification map for the province. They also participated in field data collection in Brgy. Magnuang, City of Batac, where they pinpointed areas of eggplant production.
