Today, we honor the life and sacrifices Benigno “Ninoy” Aquino Jr., a man who gave his life so that the Filipino people could live in freedom and a man who believed and stood with courage during the most difficult times in our nation’s history. His life reminds us that loving our country means having the courage to fight on what we believe is right, even the path isn’t with us.

Ninoy’s sacrifices became part of every Filipino people’s struggle for democracy and freedom. As we remember Ninoy Aquino Day, may we not only remember it as holiday, and not only remember his name but also reflect on the morals he represented. May we remember that the freedom we value today comes with a responsibility—to learn from our history, speak with courage, respect each other, and to take care for our beloved country and fellow Filipinos.

May his legacy continue to inspire every Filipino to become more responsible citizens and help build a brighter future for the Philippines.

We remember his sacrifices, carry his hope, and keep believing in a better Philippines.

Today, we honor the rich cultures, traditions, languages, and ancestral knowledge of Indigenous Peoples around the world. May their voices continue to be heard, their heritage protected, and their traditions carried forward from one generation to the next.

Also, did you know? According to UNESCO, over 80% of the world’s recognized languages are Indigenous, highlighting the immense contribution of Indigenous Peoples to the world’s cultural and linguistic diversity. UNESCO also supports efforts to safeguard Indigenous languages, knowledge, and living heritage for future generations.

𝗕𝗜𝗚 𝗡𝗢 𝗧𝗢 𝗣𝗔𝗫 𝗦𝗜𝗟𝗜𝗖𝗔

𝐁𝐮𝐭 𝐰𝐡𝐲 𝐚 𝐁𝐈𝐆 𝐍𝐎 𝐭𝐨 𝐏𝐚𝐱 𝐒𝐢𝐥𝐢𝐜𝐚?

The Philippines is one of the world's most mineral-rich countries, with abundant deposits of nickel, gold, copper, and other valuable resources. However, we lack sufficient machinery and manufacturing facilities to transform these raw minerals into finished products. As a result, we export our minerals at low prices to other countries for processing, then import the finished products at much higher costs.

Pax Silica plans to build a mineral processing facility in the Philippines that will use our land, water, and mineral resources. Many people believe that this project will primarily benefit foreign interests while placing additional pressure on our environment and natural resources.

Hindi lang ito usapin ng development, ito ay usapin ng pagprotekta sa mismong yamang bumubuhay sa ating bansa. Ang pagprotekta sa ating tubig ay pagprotekta rin sa ating mga magsasaka, sa ating pagkain, at sa kinabukasan ng bawat Pilipino.

Progress should never come at the expense of our environment and food security. Kung ang ating tubig, lupang sakahan, at likas na yaman ang nakataya, panahon na para manindigan at ipaglaban ang kapakanan ng sambayanang Pilipino.
