Tag-abaca NHS Scouts Advance in BSP Rank Advancement; Arribado Tops Explorer Board of Review

Five Boy Scouts from Tag-abaca National High School (TNHS) successfully advanced to higher ranks after passing the Board of Review during the Boy Scouts of the Philippines (BSP) Senior Scout Rank Advancement held at Dinagat School of Fisheries (DSOF) on Saturday, July 25, 2026.

The Board of Review is the stage of the BSP rank advancement process, where Scouts are assessed on their leadership, Scout spirit, outdoor skills, community service, and commitment to the Scout Oath and Law before advancing to the next rank.

Leading the successful candidates was Miguel Troy L. Langit, who earned the prestigious Pathfinder Rank, a higher distinction than the Explorer Rank in the BSP Senior Scout Advancement Scheme. The Pathfinder Rank recognizes exceptional leadership, advanced scouting skills, and dedicated service to the community.

Meanwhile, four TNHS Scouts successfully advanced to the Explorer Rank, an important milestone that recognizes a Scout's growing competence in leadership, outdoor skills, citizenship, and service. The new Explorer Rank awardees are Harcent Jay B. Arellano, Rhys Jansen Abel, Niko R. Arribado, and Ganrel P. Ebero.

Among the Explorer candidates, Niko R. Arribado emerged as the Top Notcher in the Board of Review, demonstrating outstanding knowledge, leadership potential, and commitment to the ideals of the Boy Scouts of the Philippines.

The successful rank advancement reflects the dedication of the Scouts and the committed leadership of Mr. Peterson Chua, BSP Coordinator and Adviser of Tag-abaca National High School. Through his guidance, the school's BSP unit has remained one of the school's most active and competitive student organizations, consistently excelling in scouting and leadership activities.

The achievement also highlights TNHS's commitment to developing disciplined, responsible, and service-oriented young leaders, bringing pride and honor to the school and the community.

Province of Dinagat Islands' Symbolic 100-Millionth Filipino Celebrates 12th Birthday at Tag-abaca NHS

Twelve years after being recognized as the Province of Dinagat Islands' symbolic 100-millionth Filipino, Queen Genyvic Malate Juanillo celebrated another milestone as she marked her 12th birthday during the Monday Flag Ceremony at Tag-abaca National High School.

Queen was recognized by the Commission on Population (POPCOM) as the province's symbolic 100-millionth baby during the nationwide population milestone celebration on July 27, 2014, when the Philippine Statistics Authority (PSA) projected that the country's population had reached 100 million. To commemorate the historic occasion, 100 babies born in government hospitals across the Philippines were symbolically chosen to represent the nation's population milestone.

Now a Grade 7 student of Tag-abaca National High School, Queen was honored in a heartwarming celebration led by the Provincial POPCOM Office, headed by Population Program Officer I Shielame S. Veticaros, together with POPCOM-LGU Basilisa Officer Mrs. Hermie T. Bagaipo.

The celebration featured the presentation of a birthday cake and a cash gift to Queen. Classmates, teachers, and school personnel joined in singing "Happy Birthday," filling the school grounds with smiles, applause, and warm wishes that made the occasion even more memorable.

A resident of Barangay Tag-abaca, Basilisa, Dinagat Islands, Queen is the daughter of Mr. Victor Juanillo and Mrs. Jenalyn Tubo Malate. From being the province's symbolic representative of the nation's 100-millionth Filipino to becoming an active learner, her journey reflects the hopes and aspirations carried by every Filipino child.

More than commemorating a demographic milestone, the simple yet meaningful celebration recognized the life of a young girl who continues to grow, learn, and inspire within her family, school, and community.

For Queen, turning 12 was more than celebrating another birthday. It was a reminder that behind every statistic is a child with dreams to pursue, a future to build, and the potential to make a meaningful difference. Her story continues to inspire hope, not only as a symbol of a historic milestone but also as a testament to the limitless possibilities that every young Filipino holds.

Tag-abaca NHS Starts Blended Learning 4.1

Today officially marks the launch of the Blended Learning 4.1 Pilot Implementation, with Tag-abaca National High School selected as one of the experimental schools under the DepEd Caraga initiative.

The empty seats and closed door of the Grade 9 Faraday (STE) classroom tell a meaningful story-not of inactivity, but of learning beyond the classroom.

Every Thursday is Home Learning Day where learners continue their lessons from home using the tablets and digital learning resources provided by the school.

As the experimental group, the Grade 9 Faraday (STE) learners are pioneering this innovative learning modality, which combines four days of face-to-face classes and one day of home learning.

At Tag-abaca National High School, learning is no longer confined within four classroom walls. Through Blended Learning 4.1, education continues wherever our learners are proving that innovation, collaboration, and commitment can create meaningful learning experiences beyond the traditional classroom.
