Some of the heaviest battles are fought by the ones who seem to have it all together. They’re the friend who’s always laughing, the colleague who never misses a deadline, the loved one who insists they’re okay even when their world has quietly shifted. This Mental Health Awareness Month, let’s challenge ourselves to see beyond the surface. Whether someone just lost a loved one, ended a relationship, changed jobs, or simply retreated into busyness and silence, they might be silently hoping someone will notice they’re not okay. The people who show up for everyone else often forget they’re allowed to be cared for, too.

Checking in doesn’t require grand gestures—a simple “I’ve been thinking of you” or “How are you, really?” can be a lifeline. Reach out to that person who never asks for help, the one who fills their days to avoid their thoughts, or the friend who’s gone unusually quiet. You don’t need to have the right words; you just need to be present. Let them know that they don’t have to prove their pain to deserve compassion, and that being strong doesn’t mean facing everything alone. Sometimes the most meaningful gift you can give is a safe space where someone can finally exhale.

Northern Iloilo State University (NISU) announces the resumption of face-to-face classes across all its campuses starting April 13, 2026.

Students are encouraged to take simple precautions to help manage the heat while on campus.

Stay well-hydrated by drinking plenty of water throughout the day, wear light and breathable clothing, and use umbrellas, caps, or other protective gear when moving between buildings.

It is also advisable to avoid prolonged exposure to direct sunlight, take short breaks in shaded or well-ventilated areas, and be mindful of any signs of heat-related discomfort.

Everyone is advised to remain updated and await further announcements through the Official University page.

𝐍𝐈𝐒𝐔 𝐀𝐃𝐕𝐈𝐒𝐎𝐑𝐘: NISU to Implement System-Wide Work and Class Arrangements

Northern Iloilo State University (NISU), through a Memorandum Order No. 54 Series of 2026, will implement system-wide work and class arrangements effective March 9, 2026, pursuant to Memorandum Circular No. 114 issued by the Office of the President of the Philippines.

* Under this directive, all office personnel shall report on-site from Monday to Thursday following a compressed work week schedule of 7:00 AM – 12:00 NN and 1:00 PM – 6:00 PM, ensuring the continuous delivery of university services during the prescribed working days.

* Classes scheduled from Monday to Thursday shall proceed as regular classes in accordance with the approved schedule, and all teaching personnel are expected to report as assigned.

* On Fridays, faculty members will observe an asynchronous teaching modality and are required to accomplish and submit their Weekly Accomplishment and Activity Report (WAAR) to their respective Deans or immediate supervisors.

* Meanwhile, General Services Office (GSO) personnel shall follow the same compressed work schedule from Monday to Thursday, while Security Services personnel will continue to observe their regular duty schedules to ensure the safety and security of the university premises and properties.

* Classes scheduled on Fridays for Undergraduate Programs and Saturdays or Sundays for the Graduate Education Program shall be conducted online through synchronous or asynchronous modalities.

All concerned officials are directed to ensure the strict implementation and proper monitoring of these arrangements across all NISU campuses.
