ASIST Faculty Wins 3rd Place in Extension Category at Regional Symposium!

Ms. Donna Joy Valdez, a dedicated faculty member from the College of Teacher Education, Lagangilang Campus, proudly earned Third Place (Extension Category) for her project titled “ECE CARES: Enabling Childhood Educators with Competencies to Attain Professional and Educational Standards” during the 15th Joint CorCAARRD-CIEERDeC Regional Symposium on Research, Development, and Extension Highlights and the 8th Regional Student Research Congress, held last October 28–30, 2025, at Ifugao State University, Lamut, Ifugao.

Her project focuses on empowering early childhood educators by enhancing their professional competencies and aligning their practices with national educational standards—strengthening the quality of early learning in local communities.

This recognition reflects Ms. Valdez’s commitment to educational excellence and the Abra State Institute of Sciences and Technology’s (ASIST) mission to uplift communities through meaningful research and extension programs.

ASIST Faculty Clinches 2nd Place in Education Category at Regional Research Symposium

Glenmar S. Biscarra, a streamlined faculty for Research and a faculty member from the College of Teacher Education, Lagangilang Campus, proudly secured Second Place (Education Category) for his research titled “Development and Validation of Supplementary Worksheets for Filipino 6” during the 15th Joint CorCAARRD-CIEERDeC Regional Symposium on Research, Development, and Extension Highlights and the 8th Regional Student Research Congress, held on October 28–30, 2025, at Ifugao State University, Lamut, Ifugao.

His study centers on creating and validating supplementary learning materials designed to enhance the teaching and learning of Filipino 6, aiming to support teachers and learners through innovative and contextualized instructional tools.

This recognition highlights Mr. Biscarra’s dedication to advancing education and the Abra State Institute of Sciences and Technology’s (ASIST) continued pursuit of excellence in research and instruction.

ASIST Bags Double Awards at 2025 Regional Symposium

The Abra State Institute of Sciences and Technology (ASIST) proudly brought home two recognitions for the institutional booth — the Visibility Award and the Swag Overload Award— during the 15th Joint CorCAARRD-CIEERDeC Regional Symposium on Research, Development, and Extension Highlights and the 8th Regional Student Research Congress, held last October 28–30, 2025, at Ifugao State University, Nayon, Lamut, Ifugao.

ASIST received the Visibility Award for drawing the highest number of visitors and recording the top sales, showcasing the institute’s strong presence and active engagement during the event. The Swag Overload Award was also granted to ASIST for bringing the most giveaways, tokens, and branded items, adding color and excitement to the symposium atmosphere.

The institutional booth was expertly curated by Sir Bernard Castillo and Dr. Bersheeba Taclawan.

The event organized by the Cordillera Consortium for Agriculture, Aquatic and Resources Research and Development (CorCAARRD) and the Cordillera Industry, Energy, and Emerging Technology Research and Development Consortium (CIEERDeC), carried the theme:

“Happitan (Conversations): Leveraging Science and Technology Towards Sustainable and Innovative Communities.”

The awards were presented on October 30, 2025, at the Luis Hora Gymnasium, Ifugao State University, Lamut, Ifugao.

In Ifugao State University. CASS-ABEL students take home Best Paper award at the Regional Research Congress! ❤️

Congratulations to College of Arts and Social Sciences (CASS) student-researchers Novy Ann Neri, Maryjoy B. Agloro, Meyane B. Allao, and Melanie P. Dimaampao, together with their research adviser Dr. Dylan Edward R. Raranga and the Research for winning the Best Research Paper Award at the 8th Regional Student Research Congress held at Ifugao State University, Lamut, Ifugao, last October 28–30, 2025.

Their paper, “Philippine Media and Liberal Feminism: Exploring the Resistance Measures of GMA TV Series, Maria Clara at Ibarra,” stood out for its insightful exploration of women’s empowerment and gender representation in Philippine television.

This remarkable recognition highlights the excellence of CASS student-researchers and the unwavering support of the R&D Office in fostering innovation, critical thinking, and socially relevant research.

Congratulations to the team and the R&D Office for bringing pride and inspiration to the College and the entire institution.

The Abra State Institute of Science and Technology proudly concludes the 4th Student Research Congress 2025, held on September 25, 2025, at the R&D Conference Hall, Lagangilang Campus. With the theme “Progressive Scholarly Development and Excellence through Student Research,” this year’s congress became a vibrant platform for student-researchers to showcase innovative studies, exchange insights, and foster a deeper culture of inquiry and academic excellence.

Thank you once again to our panel of evaluators for IEET and AANR; Mrs. Joan Pagaduan, Engr. Orlando Lomboy and Dr. Noel B. Begnalen. For Social and Education; Dr Rhea Quileza, Dr. Jonathan Zales and Mr. Glenmar Biscarra.
