It's that season again... homeschool planning season. 🍃📚

And if you're a first-time homeschool parent, you might be feeling exactly what I felt years ago.

"I need that curriculum."
"I need those books."
"I need that shelf."
"I need those manipulatives."
"I need that aesthetic homeschool corner."

Before I knew it, my cart was full and my mind was even fuller. 😅

The truth?

One of the biggest lessons I've learned in homeschooling is that learning doesn't happen because we bought everything.

Learning happens in the daily rhythm.
In the conversations.
In the books read together.
In the habits built little by little.

Social media can be inspiring, but it can also make us feel like we're already behind before we've even started.

I've learned that homeschooling became more peaceful, more enjoyable, and more sustainable when I stopped trying to do everything at once.

🌱 Start slow.
🌱 Build momentum.
🌱 Learn your child's rhythm.
🌱 Give yourself room to grow.

Whenever I feel overwhelmed, I go back to my "why."

Why did we choose homeschooling?

For deeper relationships.
For meaningful learning.
For character formation.
For a childhood filled with wonder.

Those reasons matter more than having the perfect setup.

To the mom who is preparing for her first homeschool year: you do not need to have everything figured out today.

Take one step at a time.

Your homeschool doesn't need to look like anyone else's.

It only needs to work for your family. ❤️

If you're a homeschool parent who wants practical encouragement, realistic homeschooling, and reminders that you're not alone in this journey, follow this page. Let's learn and grow together. 🌿

We are cooking something

One of our favorite parts of the school year?

Planning. 💛

There's something exciting about dreaming together, making plans, and imagining all the books we'll read, places we'll explore, and ideas we'll discover.

This year feels extra special because we're entering Grade 5! 🎉

And for the first time, we're planning something that is completely outside our comfort zone. The kind of thing that makes us a little nervous... but also incredibly excited.

Homeschooling has taught us that growth often happens when we are willing to try something new, make mistakes, and learn along the way.

So here we are—pencils out, notebooks open, ideas flying everywhere, and hearts full of anticipation.

We can't wait to see where this adventure leads us. ❤️

Grade 5, we're ready for you!

Preparing for my students and for Summer's reading journey this season. 📚❤️

This month, Summer and I will be reading War Child and My Faraway Home.

Both books are set during World War II, but they tell very different stories. One takes us to another part of the world, while My Faraway Home brings us closer to our own history as Filipinos.

As Filipinos, I believe it is important for our children to know what happened in our country during the war—not just the names of heroes and important dates, but the everyday experiences of families, children, and communities who lived through those difficult times.

Reading these books side by side helps us see that while war was a global event, each nation and each family experienced it differently.

Through these stories, our children can:

📖 Develop empathy for people from different cultures and backgrounds.
📖 Understand the impact of war on ordinary families.
📖 Discover the courage, resilience, and faith of Filipinos during challenging times.
📖 Learn that history is not just something that happened long ago—it is part of our story and helps shape who we are today.

One of the gifts of living books is that they allow us to see history through human eyes.

As we read together, I hope Summer and my students will not only learn about World War II but also gain a deeper appreciation of our Filipino heritage and the sacrifices made by those who came before us.

History becomes meaningful when we remember that these were real people, living real lives, facing real challenges—just like us.

We still have slot for our grade 3 to 6 students :)

📚✨ Reading Challenge Continues! ✨📚

Lately, we've been hearing reports about the declining reading comprehension levels among Filipino learners. As a parent and educator, that honestly saddens me.

But reading is not a race.

It's not always about who reads the fastest.
It's not about who finishes first.
It's not even about who reads the most difficult books.

What matters is the child who keeps turning pages.

The child who chooses a book instead of a screen.
The child who returns to reading even after getting distracted.
The child who continues.

Summer's reading journey continues:

📖 January – 6 books
📖 February – 8 books
📖 March – 5 books
📖 April – 1 book
📖 May – 5 books

That's 25 books so far, and we're aiming for 50 to 100 books this year!

More importantly, these books are not just academic requirements. They are stories that build imagination, empathy, vocabulary, critical thinking, and a lifelong love of learning.

Let's encourage our children to read beyond their textbooks.
Let them discover adventures, heroes, ideas, and worlds they have never seen before.

🌱 One book at a time.
🌱 One chapter at a time.
🌱 One reader at a time.

Together, we can help build a nation of readers.

📚 Who's joining our reading challenge?
Share your child's current read or your family's book count in the comments. Let's inspire one another and grow a community where reading is part of everyday life.

Narration time is part of our homeschooling today. ❤️

After reading the story, biglang sabi ng anak ko,
“Nanay ikaw naman mag narrate.” 😅

Why not? Honestly, ang saya matuto kasama sila. Hindi lang sila ang nag eenjoy, pati tayo rin.

Sometimes the best part of homeschooling is not the perfect lesson plan…
it’s the laughter, kwentuhan, and those simple moments na sabay kayong natututo. 📚✨

With them, not just teaching them. 💛

22/05/2026

“When my students asked me to draw like them… syempre game tayo diyan. 🎨😂

Because homeschooling and learning is not:
❌ talking TO them

It is:

✨ being WITH them

You read WITH them.
You draw WITH them.
You narrate WITH them.

There’s a big difference.

‘To them’ feels like instruction.
‘With them’ feels like relationship.

And honestly? Children can feel the difference.

That’s where connection grows.
That’s where confidence grows.
That’s where learning becomes alive. 🤍

Pero mas na sepanx ata ako biglang p**f 6 weeks na yun.

In life, not only in homeschooling, I believe we have the responsibility to guide our children not just academically… but spiritually and emotionally too. 🤍

We help them know God, build strong character, and wisely choose the people around them who will influence their heart and mind.

As Charlotte Mason said, “Education is an atmosphere, a discipline, and a life.”

The atmosphere we create at home matters.
Hindi kailangan perfect ang bahay o laging organized. But when children feel safe, heard, loved, and free to be themselves — doon sila tunay na naggo-grow. 🌿

Sometimes the greatest lesson we can give our children is not found in worksheets… but in the environment we intentionally create every single day. ✨

🌿 Our hearts are full as we enter the last week of our Summer Cycle in

✨The Narration Nest✨

What started as simple online classes slowly became a beautiful rhythm for our learners and families — a rhythm of attending class joyfully, listening carefully, narrating confidently, praying sincerely, and sharing deep conversations together. 🤍

We witnessed little hearts grow not only in academics but also in confidence, curiosity, kindness, and meaningful expression. Seeing our learners ask thoughtful questions, share their ideas bravely, and enjoy learning together has been such a gift. 🌸

To our dear parents, thank you for trusting Sisidlan at Tala Homeschool Support and allowing us to be part of your homeschool journey this summer. 🪺

And this is not goodbye…
We are so excited to continue learning together in our

A new season of stories, narration, conversations, and gentle learning awaits. ✨

18/05/2026

At Sisidlan at Tala Homeschool Support, we believe Charlotte Mason education is deeply rooted in relationships, meaningful ideas, and living learning. We also know that homeschooling is often parent-led, with mothers and families carrying the beautiful yet demanding work of guiding their children’s education each day.

For busy homeschooling families who desire support, community, and rich conversations, we created Feast and Narration — a virtual homeschool circle designed to complement your homeschool journey during the 1st Quarter of the school year.

This is not meant to replace the parent’s role, but to support it. Through poetry, narration, meaningful discussions, and enrichment activities, learners are given opportunities to learn alongside peers, listen to different ideas, and share their own thoughts in a respectful and encouraging environment.

In a world where homeschooling can sometimes feel isolating, Feast and Narration offers a space where children can build friendships with like-minded learners, practice expressing ideas, and experience the joy of learning together.

Our goal is simple: to help families continue a rich Charlotte Mason education while providing support, community, and meaningful learning experiences for both parents and children.
