CORDILLERA CULTURAL GROUP SLAMS AI REMIXES OF SALIDUMMAY SONGS ON SPOTIFY
By Aldwin Quitasol of Daily Tribune
BAGUIO CITY — The organization reported that original songs including “Danum,” “Pagay,” and “Balay” were remixed using generative artificial intelligence and uploaded under the artist profile “AI SALIDUMMAY.” According to the group, the uploads were made without the knowledge or permission of the original creators, allowing the account to profit from the intellectual and cultural property of the band
DKK emphasized that Salidummay’s music has long been rooted in preserving Cordilleran culture and defending ancestral lands rather than commercial gain. The organization expressed concern that the unauthorized uploads contribute to the commercialization of indigenous culture through AI-generated content.
The group demanded the immediate removal of the songs from Spotify, stressing that no official discussions or agreements had taken place between Salidummay and the entity behind the AI account.
DKK also called on the public to support the band’s authentic recordings instead of the AI-generated remixes. The organization noted that most of Salidummay’s original works are available on YouTube, while the group’s 1987 self-titled album remains officially accessible on Spotify. # # #

Tuwing sumasabit
Tuwing nanggagalaiti na sa galit
Tuwing kumakapit -
na sa patalim
Habang pauwi ako,
napansin kong halos lahat
Ng katapat ko sa jeep
Ay nakataas ang kamao
Nakakuyom, nakakakapit sa bakal
Doon pumasok sa akin
Na siguro, araw-araw tayong sinasanay
Ng mundo na ikuyom ang ating kamao
Sa pinakamaliliit na paraan
Araw-araw tayong hinuhubog
Para ikuyom ang ating kamao
Itaas, at lumaban"
