There are heroes who wear capes, and there are heroes who simply roll up their sleeves and give.

Yesterday, Venus Parkview Hotel was honored to host Dugong Bayani Year 2, a blood donation drive dedicated to helping patients and families in need.

To all our selfless donors, thank you for giving a part of yourself to give someone else another chance at life. Your willingness to donate, especially despite the challenging weather here in Baguio, is truly inspiring.

Your simple act of kindness can mean hope, strength, and a second chance for someone you may never even meet.

You are truly a hero in someone elseโ€™s story.

Thank you to everyone who took part in Dugong Bayani Year 2. Your generosity reminds us that when we come together, we can make a life-saving difference.

Every drop counts. Every donor matters. Every act of kindness saves lives.

We are one with our community

The loss of ten lives in the recent landslide is a deeply painful moment for our city. I extend my sincere condolences to the families and loved ones of those we lost. No words can lessen the sorrow of losing a family member, especially in such sudden and tragic circumstances. We grieve with every family who waited and hoped during the search, and we share in the sadness that has settled over our community. Our thoughts and prayers remain with them during this very difficult time.

Amid this profound sadness, we hold on to a measure of relief that three of our fellow residents survived. We are grateful that they are with us, and we hope that, in time, they will find strength and healing from what they have endured.

Over the past two days, our rescue teams, responders, volunteers, and partner agencies have worked continuously under very difficult conditions. Our personnel assisting evacuees and affected families have likewise remained on the ground, doing what needs to be done. My snappiest salute goes out to all of you.

I also want to thank the people of Baguio who were ready to help from the very beginning. Many immediately reached out to offer food, clothing, supplies, and other forms of assistance. Others volunteered their time and resources wherever they were needed. Maraming salamat po sa inyong malasakit at agarang pagtugon.

As of today, all those reported missing have been accounted for. We will terminate our search and rescue operations. We will continue to keep everyone posted on developments.

In the next few days, we also intend to begin our clean-up operations once the weather improves and conditions allow us to do so safely. The area remains dangerous, and our teams have observed stress signs in the soil. We do not want to put our personnel, volunteers, or residents at further risk.

These have been difficult and painful days for Baguio. Our attention now turns to the families and communities affected, and to making sure that the next steps are carried out safely and properly.

Maraming salamat & warm regards,
BENJAMIN B. MAGALONG
City Mayor
