//From Planting to Protecting: SSLG Officers Water the Future//

The Secondary Supreme Learner Government (SSLG) officers actively conducted a watering activity to ensure the survival and healthy growth of the fruit trees previously planted within the school grounds. The activity forms part of the SSLG’s continuing commitment to environmental protection and sustainability.

After class in the afternoon, SSLG officers worked together to water the fruit trees, checking their condition and making sure each plant received enough water to support its growth. This follow-up activity highlighted the importance of proper care and maintenance after tree-planting initiatives.

According to the officers, planting trees is only the first step, while consistent watering and monitoring are essential to ensure that the fruit trees grow strong and eventually provide benefits to the school and community. The activity also aimed to promote environmental awareness and responsibility among learners.

// ENERGIZING THE ENVIRONMENT: BENECO powers Cabiten NHS Tree Planting Activities //

In a united effort to promote environmental stewardship and strengthen community involvement, Cabiten National High School held a tree-planting activity led by the Secondary Supreme Learner Government (SSLG), with the active participation of student leaders and the Parents-Teachers Association (PTA).

The initiative was made possible through the support of the Benguet Electric Cooperative (BENECO), which generously provided a total of 254 fruit-bearing seedlings, including 75 lemon, 30 Indian mango, 75 calamansi, 30 rambutan, 30 jackfruit, and 14 star apple. These seedlings were planted within designated areas of the school to contribute to long-term greening and livelihood efforts.

In addition to the seedlings, BENECO also sponsored meals and snacks for the volunteers and donated a water hose to support the irrigation and maintenance of the newly planted trees. The support was funded through the cooperative’s Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) Fund, facilitated by BENECO Board of Director for District 11 Mr. Juanito C. Bagayao.

Director Bagayao personally participated in the activity, demonstrating the cooperative’s commitment to community partnership. He was joined by Community Relations Officer Mr. Andro Angluben, who likewise took part in the planting and coordination efforts.

School officials expressed their gratitude to BENECO and highlighted that the project not only promotes environmental conservation but also teaches students the value of civic responsibility and collective action. The SSLG and PTA also thanked all volunteers for their enthusiasm and dedication to creating a greener school environment.

The event concluded with a shared meal and a renewed commitment among participants to nurture the planted seedlings and continue advocating for ecological initiatives within the community.
