This project took me a whole year to finish, from proposal to final draft, so allow me to indulge myself with this post.
The pandemic changed my view of the world, and by extension, my research interests. After the lockdowns, I was on the lookout to contribute to the discourses on gender-based violence, young people in policymaking, and public health in the Philippines by focusing on women, children, and adolescents, subjects I have been assigned to cover ever since I decided to make development work my life's work. I am very grateful to my research mentors who took me under their wing to assist them in impact assessments, compendiums, gender studies, and case studies since I was an undergrad. These opportunities allowed me to learn and slowly, take the lead, too.
My first national study on adolescent sexual and reproductive health covering NCR to BARMM is funded and supervised by ChildFund Philippines and GEMS Heart Outreach Development, Inc., with other partners: ChildFund in Zamboanga, KKKK, FACE, and HAUMAN. It will be used by ChildFund and its partners to plan, inform, and implement interventions and efforts to curb early pregnancy and marriage, CEFM, lack of SRHR information, GBV, and other similar themes in various project sites in various project sites in the country.
I am very grateful for the enumerators who did the fieldwork and the RAs who worked onsite with me in the PH last year. I am also indebted to my research supervisors at GEMS and ChildFund. This endeavor may be finished, but we know that the real work is far from over.
Happy Easter! ๐ฃ
