Four Outdoorscouts from Bagong Silang National High School (BSNHS) successfully underwent the Collective Harmony of Activities Required for Merit Badges for Venturer Rank (CHARM V), a council-level leadership and skills training camp held at St. Francis High School in Sariaya, Quezon, on August 1โ€“2, 2026.

โ€ŽRepresenting BSNHS Outfit 771 were Outdoorscouts Jasper Francia, Althea Kate Benito, Kirk Thaddeus Ledesma, and John Glenn Sadili. During the two-day camp, they completed activities required for advancement to the Venturer Rank while strengthening their leadership, teamwork, and practical scouting skills.

The camp gathered more than 186 Outdoorscouts from various schools across the Division of Quezon and Tayabas City. Participants underwent training in camping first aid, campcraft, problem-solving challenges, and other scouting activities designed to develop resilience, discipline, teamwork, and leadership.

Beyond the required merit badge activities, the BSNHS delegated also built camaraderie with fellow Outdoorscouts from different schools, enhancing their communication and collaboration while embracing the values of Boy Scouts of the Philippines through discipline, responsibility, and service.

โ€œThis experience pushed us out of our comfort zones. We learned that leadership starts with service,โ€ said Outdoorscout Francia, reflecting on the lessons they gained during the camp.

โ€ŽThe successful participation of Outfit 771 underscores BSNHS' commitment to developing responsible, service-oriented, and competent student leaders through Scouting. Equipped with new knowledge, practical skills, and strengthened values, participants are expected to serve as role models for their fellow Scouts and contribute meaningfully to future school and community service initiatives.

I always believed I would write this message after graduation. Instead, I find myself saying goodbye while the school year has only just begun.

My journalism journey began in Grade 8 when I joined Bambino out of curiosity. At the time, the publication was still finding its footing, and so was I. In Grade 10, I became Bambino's only Science Writer, a role that challenged me to grow both as a writer and as a person. Representing our school in the Division Schools Press Conference gave me unforgettable experiences, lifelong friendships, and lessons far beyond the classroom. Then, in Grade 11, I was entrusted with the greatest honor of allโ€”becoming Editor-in-Chief. It was never just a title; it was a dream I had carried for years. From that moment on, Bambino became more than a publicationโ€”it became my home.

Many people only saw the finished articles, the published photos, the completed layouts, and the successful events. What they did not see were the countless nights I spent editing article after article while everyone else was already asleep. They did not see the deadlines that stretched until dawn, the meals I skipped because another story needed to be finished, or the moments when exhaustion brought me to tears. But somehow, I always kept going, because every article mattered to me. Every event mattered. Every journalist mattered.

Whenever there was an event to cover, I never thought only about the stories we had to write. I cared about the people writing those stories with me. I wanted to make sure everyone was supported, every responsibility was fulfilled, and every challenge was faced together. Watching my fellow journalists grow, gain confidence, and create memories alongside me became just as meaningful as seeing another article published.

Being an honor student while serving as an officer in different organizations and leading Bambino was never easy. There were days when I felt overwhelmed and nights when I questioned if I was doing enough. Yet, despite all the responsibilities I carried, I never allowed Bambino to be left behind. No matter how busy life became, I always gave this publication my time, my effort, and my whole heart.

There was even a time when I dreamed that someone else had already replaced me as Editor-in-Chief. I remember waking up feeling relieved because I thought it was only a dream. Looking back now, I realize how much Bambino meant to me. It had become so important that even in my sleep, the thought of losing it found its way into my mind. I never imagined that one day, that dream would quietly become reality.

When the policy was announced, I understood why the decision had to be made. I respect it wholeheartedly because rules exist for a reason. But understanding something does not always make it easy to accept. The truth is... it hurts. Not because I lost a title, but because I was not ready to let go of something that had already become part of me.

The school year had only begun. There were still stories I wanted to write, journalists I wanted to mentor, projects I wanted to finish, and memories I still wanted to create with the publication I learned to call home. Perhaps that is why this goodbye feels heavier than I expected.

Still, if Bambino has taught me anything, it is that leadership is never measured by how long you hold a position. It is measured by the lives you touch while you hold it.

Journalism changed me in ways I never expected. It taught me to listen before writing, to observe before speaking, to remain calm under pressure, to lead with patience instead of authority, to accept criticism with humility, and to serve before expecting recognition. Most importantly, it gave me confidence in myself when I had none.

Everything I have accomplished todayโ€”the opportunities I received, the lessons I learned, the courage I found, and the person I continue to become โ€” was shaped, in one way or another, by Bambino. For that, I will always be grateful.

To our School Paper Advisers, thank you for believing in me, trusting me, correcting me and allowing me to lead. Thank you for seeing potential in a student who simply wanted to write.

To every staff member who became part of this journey, thank you for every deadline we survived together, every coverage we shared, every laugh that made stressful days lighter, and every memory that will forever remain close to my heart.

And to the next Editor-in-Chiefโ€”please take care of Bambino. Love it the way I didโ€”or even more. There will be days when the work feels endless, when the deadlines seem impossible, and when the responsibility feels heavier than you expected. But never forget that Bambino is more than a publication. It is a family, a home, and a place where students discover their voices and grow into the people they are meant to become. Protect it. Nurture it. Believe in it. Lead with integrity, write with honesty and always put your people before yourself. Take care of Bambino for me, because it will always have a special place in my heart.

Today, I may no longer carry the title of Editor-in-Chief, but no policy can ever take away the memories, the friendships, the lessons, and the love that this publication gave me.

TAGKAWAYAN, QUEZON โ€” The Municipal Environment and Natural Resources Office (MENRO)-Tagkawayan conducted an Information, Education, and Communication (IEC) campaign on solid waste management and environmental laws to promote proper waste disposal and encourage environmentally responsible practices among community members.

Held on July 30, 2026, at the Barangay Bagong Silang Covered Court, the campaign was attended by the school principal, Ma'am Emelyn C. Medrano, 19 teaching personnel, and 356 Junior High School and Senior High School students from Bagong Silang National High School (BSNHS).

The discussion was led by Mr. Aries Jay R. Anihay, Administrative Aide III of MENRO-Tagkawayan, who introduced sustainable waste management practices and explained the 5 R'sโ€”Refuse, Reduce, Reuse, Recycle, and Recoverโ€”as practical approaches to minimizing waste and protecting the environment.

Mr. Anihay also stressed the importance of complying with Republic Act No. 9003, or the Ecological Solid Waste Management Act of 2000, highlighting proper waste segregation, recycling, and responsible waste disposal. โ€œSolid Waste Management is a Shared Responsibility,โ€ he said, urging participants to help keep their communities clean and environmentally sustainable.

Meanwhile, Maโ€™am Maria Liezl N. Castro, Environmental Management Specialist I and Pollution Control Officer, discussed key environmental laws that support the protection and conservation of the country's natural resources. These included Presidential Decree No. 705, or the Revised Forestry Code of the Philippines; Republic Act No. 9175, or the Chainsaw Act of 2002; and Republic Act No. 9147, also known as the Wildlife Resources Conservation and Protection Act.

Throughout the campaign, participants gained a deeper understanding of environmental po nolicies and practical waste management strategies that can be applied in their homes, schools, and communities. They were also encouraged to take an active role in environmental protection by practicing proper waste segregation and supporting local environmental programs.

MENRO-Tagkawayan continues to strengthen environmental awareness through community-based education initiatives, encouraging greater public participation in building cleaner, healthier, and more sustainable communities.

Bagong Silang National High School (BSNHS) distributed 139 free student IDs to newly enrolled learners for School Year 2026โ€“2027 on July 15, 2026, to strengthen campus safety and security.

The distribution covered 77 Grade 7 students, 50 Grade 11 students, and 12 transferees, ensuring that all incoming Grade 7, Grade 11, and transferee students received school IDs free of charge.

Ma'am Emelyn C. Medrano, Principal I said the school continues to prioritize allocating funds from the Maintenance and Other Operating Expenses (MOOE) for student IDs because they play an important role in maintaining campus safety, accountability, and efficient school operations.

โ€œSchool IDs ensure proper identification of learners and enable quick verification during emergencies. They also support daily school operations, such as monitoring attendance and regulating campus entry,โ€ Ma'am Medrano stated.

She added that the school allocates funds annually to provide IDs for new entrants, and transferees, without placing an additional financial burden on parents.

Ma'am Medrano also reminded students to take proper care of their IDs. She explained that students who lose their IDs should immediately report the incident to their class adviser for proper documentation and processing of a replacement ID.

Meanwhile, Grade 11 Arts and Social Sciences and Humanities (ASSH) student Rizel G. Renacido expressed support for the school's ID policy, saying that official school IDs help identify students as representatives of BSNHS during academic and extracurricular activities.

โ€œI think requiring students to wear IDs is a good policy because it helps the community recognize our school whenever we participate in activities outside the campus,โ€ Renacido said.

Likewise, Grade 8 student Trixie Mae M. Cortez shared that wearing a school ID gives her a sense of pride and belonging as a BSNHS student.

Similarly, Grade 7 student Precious Princes Ilagan said wearing her school ID makes her feel like an official student of the school community.

The school administration continues to encourage all students to wear their IDs at all times while on campus as part of its commitment to maintaining a safe, orderly, and secure learning environment.
