In celebrating of Month of St. Augustine, Christians joins the annual feast days of vital catholic role models whose faith and teachings are still alive to this day

โ€ŽAugustine of Hippo, better known as St. Augustine was born on November 13, 354 AD in Tagaste, Numidia.

He was the firstborn child of Patricius, a pagan Roman official, and St. Monica, the devoted mother that's now known as the patron saint of mothers.
โ€Ž
โ€ŽSt. Monica is venerated not only as the mother of St. Augustine, but is also recognized as the patron saint of mothers, unwavering endurance, and difficult marriages.

For 17 long years, St. Monica bore the heavy duty as a devoted mother for her prodigal son; the โ€œson of so many tearsโ€.

Yet Monica never ceased shedding a river of tears and praying for her beloved son.

Her love for St. Augustine knows no borders โ€” where Augustine wandered, her prayer followed.

โ€ŽBefore his conversion, St. Augustine lived a life in stark contrast to his mother's living.

He spent half of his life consumed by pride, lust, and restless search for truth in all the wrong places, while his mother clung to faith.
โ€Ž
โ€ŽThen in the garden of Milan in August 386 AD, grace finally won.

While Augustine was disoriented, and confused, he heard a voice that said: โ€œTolle Lege!โ€ which means โ€œTake up and read.โ€

Augustine read the scriptures and by then he decided to change his life and devote himself to God.

He was Baptized by Bishop Ambrose in 387 AD, and the son of so many tears became many tears became a son of the church.

โ€ŽFrom that wandering lost soul was now known as the greatest teachers the Church has ever known.

St. Augustine finally got baptized, became a priest and a bishop, and wrote major theological works like Confessions, The City of God, On the Trinity and many more that shaped the Western Christianity.

He also taught us the immortal line: "Our hearts are restless until they rest in You, O God."
โ€Ž

St. Monica teaches us that faith, hope, and prayer are not mere words whispered into thin air but a light that guides the lost home.

St. Augustine teaches us that no past is too shattered for grace to rebuild.

โ€ŽToday, as we commemorate The Month of St. Augustine and St. Monica, we celebrate two hearts intertwined by grace โ€” A mother whose sacrifice was her prayer, and a son who finally find his way home.

"Ang hindi magmahal sa sariling wika ay higit pa sa hayop at malansang isda."

Ito ang tanyag na diwa ng ating pambansang bayani na si Dr. Jose Rizal.

Dahil dito, ang bawat Pilipino ay dapat maging magiliw sa wika at sa bansa.

Ngayon, mas napalago pa ito sa tulong ng Artificial Intelligence o AI at sa bawat gintong impormasyong handog nito.

Ano nga ba ang naitulong ng AI sa pagpapalaganap ng Wikang Filipino?

Dati, wikang Ingles lamang ang gamit ng AI sa pananaliksik, ngunit hindi na ngayon.

Sa tulong ng mga kasangkapan tulad ng Google Translate at ChatGPT, mabilis na naisasalin ang malalalim na salitang Ingles sa Wikang Filipino na mas madaling intindihin ng mga Pilipino.

Mabilis pa sa kidlat ang paglaganap nito sa bansa; kaya ngayon, sa isang pindot lang, kaya na ng AI na magsalin ng mga awitin, magtama ng taludtod, at magbigay ng kahulugan sa mga salitang tulad ng "balintataw" at "pagsintang wagas" na minsan ay nakakalimutan na ng kabataan.

Kung babalikan natin ang pahina ng kahapon, dati ay Linggo ng Wika lamang ito tuwing kaarawan ng Ama ng Wikang Pambansa na si Manuel L. Quezon.

Ngunit noong taong 1997, sa ilalim ng Proklamasyon Blg. 1041 ng dating Pangulong Fidel V. Ramos, ginawa itong Buwan ng Wika tuwing buwan ng Agosto para sa mas mahabang pagdiriwang.

Layunin nitong paigtingin ang pagmamahal ng bawat isa sa sariling wika.

Kapag nagbalik-tanaw tayo sa pinagmulan, doon natin makikita ang ugat ng ating pagkakakilanlan.

Isang dangal ang AI dahil sa malawak nitong tulong.

The program was opened through a parade of costumes, students wearing various of traditional costumes and showing the beauty of Filipino culture. Following the parade, ๐— ๐—ฟ๐˜€. ๐— ๐—ถ๐—ป๐—ฒ๐˜๐˜๐—ฒ ๐—š๐—ฒ๐—น๐—ฎ delivered the Opening Remarks.

The event showcased Himig ng Lahi. A vocal performance which is sung by students and facultyโ€”performing together in unity through music.

Yesterday also featured an intermission number by the Sayaweh and Pilandia Club, which further energized the crowd.

Beyond all of the performances on stage, this activity served as a foundation for everyone to reflect on the importance of preserving our national language and our cultural heritage.

Monthly themes were thoroughly discussed alongside the specific roles, expectations, and targeted assignments designated for each staff member to ensure a well-coordinated and productive workflow.

Emphasizing preparedness and competitive excellence, Shanelle also oriented the members on the upcoming Division Schools Press Conference, detailing critical guidelines, categories, and competition venues to inspire the student writers as they gear up for division-level showdowns.

Innovation took center stage as the top editors unveiled an array of new platforms and interactive projects for this term designed to expand the publication's digital footprint and audience engagement.

Micaella introduced โ€œBeyond the Bylines,โ€ an initiative focused on exploring the deeper narratives behind published stories, while Shaunthea presented โ€œRays of Light,โ€ a project dedicated to shining a spotlight on inspiring student inside and outside LCCB.

Every August 21, Filipinos celebrate Ninoy Aquino Day, a national holiday that honours the life and death of Senator Benigno โ€œNinoyโ€ Aquino While many students treat the day with no classes, the holiday carries a much deeper meaning that deserves our reflection.

On this day in 1983, Senator Aquino was assassinated when he came back to the Philippines after living in the United States for 3 years. He was a known critic of the Marcos government and was ready to risk his life to bring back democracy to the country. His assassination at the Manila International Airport, now renamed the Ninoy Aquino International Airport, shocked the nation.

Aquino's death was not the end of his cause. Instead, it became a turning point in Philippine history. It sparked a wave of national outrage and unity that eventually led to the ๐—ฃ๐—ฒ๐—ผ๐—ฝ๐—น๐—ฒ ๐—ฃ๐—ผ๐˜„๐—ฒ๐—ฟ ๐—ฅ๐—ฒ๐˜ƒ๐—ผ๐—น๐˜‚๐˜๐—ถ๐—ผ๐—ป ๐—ถ๐—ป 1986, which peacefully restored democratic rule. Strengthening Faith and Solidarity: LCCB IS Faculty Engages Barangay 11 Parents in Community Extension

BACOLOD CITY, NEGROS OCCIDENTAL โ€” August 13, 2026 โ€” Living out the core Augustinian values of unity, charity, and active social responsibility, the Integrated School (IS) Faculty of La Consolacion College Bacolod (LCCB) successfully conducted its Faculty Outreach Program on Thursday afternoon at the Friendship Center. Grounded in the school's commitment to faith formation and social involvement, the initiative brought together 20 parent-representatives from LCCBโ€™s adopted partner community, Barangay 11, Bacolod City, for an afternoon of spiritual reflection and community engagement.

The activity forms a vital part of LCCB's sustained Community Extension initiatives organized by the BED Faculty Club. By bridging academic leadership with grassroots empowerment, the outreach aimed to deepen the spiritual life of partner families through the Basic Ecclesial Community (BEC) framework, promote stewardship through a Sharing of Goods activity, and foster active collaboration among faculty officers, faculty members, and Subject Area Chairpersons.

The event opened with a solemn invocation led by Ms. Cherry Rose Amato, IS Faculty Officer for the Education Committee, setting a contemplative tone for the afternoon.

Expressing the deep commitment of the teaching staff, IS Faculty President Mr. Nelson Lim addressed the gathering in Hiligaynon, highlighting that true outreach reaches beyond material aid:

"Ini nga programa indi lamang parte sang paghatag sang materyal nga bulig, kundi isa man ini ka paagi agod mapakita naton ang kabuot, pagkabukas sang tagipusuon, kag pag-alagad sa komunidad... Ang inyo dedikasyon amo ang nagapadayon sang sini nga misyon sang pag-alagad."

Following the inspiring message, the program transitioned into an interactive wellness session as Ms. Stephanie Ciokon, LPT, led the participants in an energizing dancercise that filled the hall with warmth and laughter. Guided by Master of Ceremonies Ms. Roselle B. Portudo, the parents and teachers then gathered into small reflection circles for the Getting-to-Know and BEC discussion. Facilitated by Ms. Shendel Anne Catherine E. Soteo, Religious Committee Officer, alongside teachers, the participants used tailored prayer guides to share personal faith journeys, life experiences, and aspirations for Barangay 11.

The memorable afternoon concluded with a warm fellowship over snacks and the distribution of care packages during the Sharing of Goods. The continuous partnership between LCCB and Barangay 11 stands as a testament to the transformative power of shared faith, mutual care, and active Christian witness.

Students, faculty, staff, and administrators participated in the event to practice proper safety measures and ensure the school community is prepared for potential emergencies.

The drill was conducted with the assistance of the LCCB Senior Red Cross Youth, Senior Plus Red Cross Youth, and Amity Youth Volunteers, alongside the guidance of the LCCB Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office (DRRMO) and the Bureau of Fire Protection.

Fundamental survival techniques, such as the "duck, cover, and hold" protocol, were emphasized throughout the exercise.
