Ode to My Grandfather's Love
In the hush of twilight's tender glow,
A tale of love unfolds that I used to know.
My heart recalls a sage and silver cane,
Woven in memories of my Lolo Pidong all the same.
A patriarch with years etched upon his face,
He stood a sentinel in life's relentless race.
Weathered hands, a testament to time's cruel art,
Yet within his gaze, a universe, a loving heart.
His voice, a melody of wisdom and grace,
An ancient song that time could not erase.
Through laughter's dance and tears' soft caress,
He whispered tales of life, a rich finesse.
A sovereign of joy, a monarch of care,
In my youth, his love, a fortress rare.
I, the keeper of his twilight flame,
He is the guardian of a cherished name.
In gardens tended by affection's bloom,
He nurtured dreams that chased away the gloom.
Like a springtime rain on a thirsty land,
His love, a river, forever grand.
I, a steward of his twilight years,
He, a maestro, dispelled all my fears.
In the symphony of dusk, a grand endeavor,
He, the conductor, and I, his cherished treasure.
Spoiled was I, in every tender measure,
With love's sweet alchemy, a boundless treasure.
Through whispered secrets and shared delight,
We danced in the glow of love's eternal light.
Now, he rests beneath the silvered moon,
A lullaby sung by time's soft croon.
Yet, in my heart, his presence lingers,
A cherished melody where love forever lingers.
