๐Ÿ“š SUCCESSFUL LASALLIANIZATION SERIES: NAVIGATING CLASSROOM-BASED ACTION RESEARCH!

Last February 7, 2025, the Lasallianization Series Topic 8: Navigating Classroom-Based Action Research provided an insightful discussion on enhancing research practices in the classroom. Held at MM Audi A at 2:00 PM, the session featured Dr. Jigger P. Leonor as the keynote speaker, sharing valuable expertise on conducting meaningful and impactful action research.

The event was proudly hosted by the Social Studies Majors and was graced by the presence of Ms. Pilarica Jison, MEd, ELC Coordinator, who accompanied us in this enriching academic endeavor.

A heartfelt thank you to all who participated in this session! May we continue fostering research-driven teaching practices for the benefit of our students and the academic community.

Afternoon Session of "MATAM-IS" Ang Matam-is na Pag-alaala sa Papel ng Kasaysayan at Kamalayang Pilipino - Day 1

May 23, 2024 โ€“ The afternoon session of "MATAM-IS" Ang Matam-is na Pag-alaala sa Papel ng Kasaysayan at Kamalayang Pilipino continued to build on the day's insightful discussions, with a series of compelling studies presented by distinguished scholars. Starting at 1:00 PM, the session delved into various aspects of Filipino history and culture, highlighting the rich tapestry of the nation's heritage.

Presentations:

1. "KALIKOPAN: Ang Kabanhawan, Kalibutan at Kaginhawaan sa Pagsasakasaysayan Pangkapaligiran ng mga Pilipino"
- Vicente C. Villan, PhD, UP Diliman

Dr. Villan's presentation focused on environmental history, exploring how the relationship between Filipinos and their natural surroundings has evolved over time. He examined the interplay between environmental stewardship and historical development, emphasizing the importance of ecological awareness in understanding the country's past and shaping its future.

2. "THE CITY AS CLASSROOM AND CON(TEXT): Historizing Heritage in the 21st Century Social Studies Pedagogy"
- Randy M. Madrid, PhD, UP Visayas

Dr. Madrid discussed innovative approaches to teaching social studies, highlighting the use of urban environments as dynamic classrooms. He presented methodologies for integrating heritage into contemporary pedagogy, demonstrating how cities can serve as living texts that enrich students' historical understanding.

3. "LIDER, G**O, AT MISYONERA: Ang Papel at Ambag ng Piling Kababaihang Baptist sa Kanlurang Visayas"
- Kristoffer R. Esquejo, PhD, UP Diliman

Dr. Esquejo's study illuminated the significant contributions of selected Baptist women leaders in Western Visayas. He explored their roles as leaders, educators, and missionaries, shedding light on their impact on both the religious and social landscapes of the region.

4. "BAKIT PURO TALUNAN ANG ATING MGA BAYANI?"
- Datu Jorge "Jerry" Perez de Tagle, PhD, Haven University, USA

Dr. Perez de Tagle's provocative presentation examined the narratives surrounding Filipino heroes, questioning why many are often portrayed as losers. He offered a critical analysis of historical accounts and suggested a reevaluation of how these figures are depicted in the national consciousness.

5. "EKSPEDISYONG RAJAL NOONG 1880: Ang Pagbubukas ng Pananaliksik sa Bundok Apo sa Panahong Kolonyal"
- Rhys Lloyd D. Lacia, MA, Holy Cross of Davao College

Mr. Lacia's research delved into the 1880 Rajal Expedition to Mount Apo, exploring the colonial-era investigation of the Philippines' highest peak. His presentation highlighted the expedition's significance in the context of colonial exploration and its lasting impact on the region's historical narrative.

Opening of "MATAM-IS" Ang Matam-is na Pag-alaala sa Papel ng Kasaysayan at Kamalayang Pilipino

May 23, 2024, USLS MM Audi A โ€“ The highly anticipated event "MATAM-IS" Ang Matam-is na Pag-alaala sa Papel ng Kasaysayan at Kamalayang Pilipino, organized by Adhika ng Pilipinas, Inc., in collaboration with Northern Iloilo State University, University of St. La Salle - Bacolod, USLS College of Education, and USLS College of Arts and Sciences, officially commenced at 8:30 AM today.

The opening ceremony featured a lineup of distinguished speakers and guests, setting the tone for a day dedicated to celebrating and reflecting on the historical and cultural narratives of the Philippines.

The event began with welcoming remarks from Hon. Em Ang, representing Hon. Alfredo Belardo "Albee" Benitez, the Mayor of Bacolod City.

Following the welcoming remarks, a heartfelt message was delivered by Romeo F. Detaro, Ph.D., President of Adhika Iloilo Balangay. Dr. Detaro expressed his gratitude to all the collaborating institutions and participants. He underscored the importance of such initiatives in keeping the historical consciousness alive and relevant, particularly among the younger generation.

Gerson Gallo, Secretary of Adhika Iloilo Balangay, then took the stage to introduce the keynote speaker. The keynote address was delivered by Vicente C. Villan, Ph.D., a prominent figure from the Departamento ng Kasaysayan at UP Diliman.
