As one of the highlighted academic events under PAROLA 2026, the colloquium served as a dynamic platform for the presentation of emerging studies and transformative ideas in the fields of tourism and hospitality. The event featured 8 Oral Presentations and 5 Poster Presentations, showcasing undergraduate and faculty-led research initiatives that explored relevant and contemporary issues in sustainable tourism, destination management, hospitality business innovation, food innovation, cultural preservation, and community development.
The event opened with inspiring insights from keynote speaker The event opened with a compelling keynote address from Dr. Eddie G. De Paula, who emphasized the importance of grounding research on strong and comprehensive literature review to carefully identify existing gaps in knowledge and address them meaningfully through scientific inquiry. Joining the scholarly exchange as guest panelists were Dr. Janice B. Amparo, Dr. Liberty L. Ochavo, and Dr. Eddie G. De Paula, whose expertise and constructive evaluations enriched the academic discourse and encouraged presenters to pursue research that creates meaningful impact beyond the classroom.
More than a venue for presentation, the colloquium embodied the collegeโs commitment to:
- presenting faculty and selected undergraduate research studies in tourism and hospitality;
- developing research literacy and a critical understanding of research processes and methodologies; and
- promoting a sustained culture of research and academic collaboration within the college.
To recognize outstanding scholarly work, awards were conferred to the Top 5 Best Oral Presenters and the Best Poster Presenter, honoring excellence in content, delivery, innovation, and research significance.
The success of the colloquium was made possible through the collaborative efforts of the College of Tourism and Hospitality together with Sidlak Production - BSTM 3C Events Management Class, whose dedication and teamwork contributed to the seamless ex*****on of the event. The program concluded on a meaningful and celebratory note, reflecting the institutionโs continuing pursuit of academic excellence, transformative education, and student-led innovation.
The 1st Research Colloquium stands as a testament to the growing research culture within the collegeโone that empowers future tourism and hospitality professionals to become catalysts of innovation, sustainability, and community transformation.
