A little bit of knowledge about opening class on August 24, 2020 for SY 2020-2021.
School Year 2020-2021 opens on August 24, 2020 but it doesn't mean FACE TO FACE Learning DepEd has four Alternative Delivery Modes to perform it...
What to use depends on the school that Regional and Division Office will be given permission so we will enroll starting June 1 so we can inform the delivery mode you can do for your child.
1. FACE TO FACE - this is the traditional classroom scenario... which I think many don't like because the danger of being infected is there... it is clear that this will be used in areas without threat of Covid IATF will stop... The number of students will also be reduced and observe minimum health standards.
2. Distance Learning
a. Online Distance Learning - this is a study using internet, laptop and smart phones. It may be (real time.. meaning... you need to go online during your class time) or asynchronous (you will only go online when you have the ability according to the time frame given by your teacher).
b. Modular - this is use of learning modules provided by the school that can be printed or electronic.
c. Using TV and Radio Broadcast
- This distance learning mode requires parental support. If the question is how can I teach my child I don't have the ability... while waiting for August 24 will give parents or any volunteer a chance to capacitate myself for this... it is through trainings provided by the school.
3. Blended Learning - pinagsamang Learning Modalities 1 and 2.
4. Home-based Schooling - from the word home, the child is only at home studying with parents as a teacher.
* If the question is how about giving kids a mark - the answer, DepEd will release another Assessment Tool.
Where to get the kids grades? How to perform an assessment?
* In distance learning will only be given a formative test (formative is not graded) but the child will test once it's okay and has a chance... so while at home, the child should master the skills that he should learn for his exam he can now answer.
What skills will be taught to the child?
- DepEd will reduce Learning Competencies - we will focus on the Most Essential Learning Competencies (MELC).
Where can I get learning modules? Will it be paid?
- This is provided by the school.
If we are going to postpone the school this year because there is no vaccine... are we sure that by next year there will be a vaccine? What if it takes 2 or 3 or more years to get vaccine.. does it mean 3 or more years our children will stop studying?
DepEd gives us ways to not stop learning of our children... only cooperation and support is needed.
