We are proud to announce that April Moralla has been selected as the recipient of our 4th scholarship for higher education! April is enrolling at Misamis University to pursue a degree in Nursing, and we are very excited to support her on her journey. Congratulations and best wishes, April!

I very much enjoyed interviewing these amazing young ladies from the 12th grade graduating class at St. Matthew's High School. One of them will be the recipient of the 2022 Victoria C. Wacek Memorial Scholarship, which grants the financial support needed to pursue and achieve higher education.

These students are bright, funny, hard-working and brave and I want to commend them for believing in the value of education and for believing in the contribution that they can make to the world.

They remind us all to take charge of our own lives and to go for what we want! I'm inspired :)

Thank you to Giovanni for facilitating the interviews and to Ms. Elmy and all the teachers at SMHS for the wonderful work that you do. Thank you to Leewai and the Wacek family for creating and maintaining this foundation and to all the donors for making it possible.

Unsurprisingly, the global pandemic continued to create new challenges throughout 2021 for the Memorial's operations (from Thailand and the U.S.) but, like St. Matthew's faculty and students, we are doing our best to navigate through the circumstances that are beyond our control.

Congratulations to all the students of St. Matthew's High School for persevering through difficult times and successfully completing the school year!

We are very pleased to announce that, due to the generosity of our donors, we were able to continue with the scholarship program for a special graduating student.

Although there were many qualified applicants, Issa Aoalin impressed us with his strong academic record, mature
composure, diverse interests (music, writing, art, sports) and glowing recommendations from St. Matthew’s teachers. He has been inspired by frontline workers who have made personal risks to help others during the Covid-19 pandemic, and he has decided to pursue studies in healthcare.

Special congratulations to you, Issa! We are very proud of you. Please keep Issa in your prayers for continued success. ❤

UPDATE: The Victoria C. Wacek Memorial has contributed toward the implementation of a Distance Learning program at St. Matthew's High School.

Amidst the Covid-19 pandemic, distance learning modules are being provided to students of St. Matthew’s High School to help make at-home learning possible. This week the Memorial made a donation to SMHS in the amount of PHP 382,650 to help defray the cost and ensure that all students can receive the modules free of charge.

On behalf of the Victoria C. Wacek Memorial NFP, we would like to thank all of the donors who have made this possible, and we extend our warmest wishes to St. Matthew's High School for a safe and productive school year! 🙏❤️

UPDATE: We are very pleased to announce that Cristy Razon has been selected as the recipient of the 2020 Victoria C. Wacek Memorial scholarship! Cristy has enrolled at La Salle University in Ozamis. We congratulate Cristy for her achievements and we anticipate a very bright future ahead!

We also congratulate our 2019 scholarship recipient, Romie Ramo, for successfully completing his first year at Misamis University. Well done, Romie!

We are very proud of our scholars and wish you all the best in the upcoming school year.

Applications for this year’s Victoria Celemin Wacek Memorial Scholarship are being accepted now. If you know a graduating student at St Matthew, encourage them to apply. Deadline for applications is the end of January. The scholarship covers tuition and all school-related expenses until the recipient receives his/her degree, as long as s/he stays in good standing with the college.
