To strengthen earthquake awareness and response capability within the school community, Bayandong Elementary School participated in the conduct of the Second Quarter National Simultaneous Earthquake Drill on June 18, 2026, exactly at nine oโclock in the morning.
In compliance with National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council (NDRRMC) Memorandum No. 15, s. 2026 entitled "Conduct of the Calendar Year (CY) 2026 National Simultaneous Earthquake Drill (NSED)," 206 learners from Kindergarten to Grade 6 and 11 teaching and non-teaching staff of Bayandong ES took part in the scheduled nationwide event.
Three short warning bells followed by continuous one-minute whistles were sounded consecutively by Emilia B. Basallote, Master Teacher I, and Eva V. Besmonte, Head Teacher III.
Learners from Kindergarten to Grade 6 performed the duck, cover, and hold procedure after hearing the warning signals. They also proceeded to the open space of the school grounds to practice safety measures during earthquakes.
Class advisers of each section conducted head count of their pupils. Classrooms were also inspected by teachers for any type of damageโstructural, electrical, or plumbing-related.
To equip learners with adequate information on disaster preparedness, Eva V. Besmonte, School Head, discussed the dos and don'ts before and during an earthquake, while Eleanor B. Pascua, Teacher V, explained the precautions to be observed after.
โKung sakaling maranasan natin dito sa paaralan ang malakas na lindol, tulad ng naranasan natin noong nakaraang mga linggo, siguruhin ninyo na lalayo kayo sa mga building o puno na pwedeng bumagsak para maiwasang may masaktan at manatiling ligtas,โ reminded Cleofe B. Marbella, School Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Coordinator, as the activity concluded.
