Under the CAPITBISIG Program, the College of Engineering and Industrial Technology successfully implemented the project I-SEAMD (Innovations on Smart Engineering for Agro-Industrial Management and Development) through the activity titled “Sustainable Water Systems Design for Agri-Tourism: A Community-Based Hydraulic Ram Pump Extension Project” in Barangay Cebolin, Trento, Agusan del Sur.

In collaboration with the LGU Trento and led by the Municipal Agriculturist, Engr. Deolita D. Abadillo, this initiative addressed the pressing issue of water scarcity affecting the Cebolin Agri-Tourism Complex. Farmers, Agri-tourism workers, and Local technicians actively participated in the hands-on training, gaining valuable knowledge on the installation, operation, and maintenance of hydraulic ram pump systems.

By introducing a sustainable, energy-efficient water solution, the project aims to ensure continuous water supply, reduce operational costs, and boost agricultural and livestock productivity. More importantly, it strengthens community capacity and promotes long-term resilience in agri-tourism development.

This initiative reflects a shared commitment to advancing food security, climate-resilient agriculture, and inclusive rural development. 🌍✨

The College of Agriculture faculty extensionists of ADSSU spearheaded an extension activity entitled “Climate Smart Vegetable Farming in Agusan del Sur's Flood-Prone Area: A Pathway to Sustainability” held on March 30–31, 2026 at Brgy. Nueva Era, Bunawan, Agusan del Sur. The activity was facilitated by Dr. Emerson Jay O. Ibacarra, Ma’am Joylyn D. Pausanos, Sir Antonio A. Buhawe, Ma’am Beverly O. Galicia, and Ma’am Glenet O. Montiman.

The activity aimed to equip and empower the farmers/beneficiaries of the barangay with knowledge and practical skills on climate-smart vegetable farming techniques suitable for flood-prone areas. The training included hands-on demonstrations on vegetable production using climate-resilient methods, promoting sustainable agriculture, food security, and improved livelihood opportunities for the community.

The Extension Services of ASSCAT spearheaded by the College of Agriculture faculty extensionists namely:Associate Professor Emerson Jay O. Ibacarra, Assistant Professor Joylyn D. Pausanos, Beverly O. Galicia and Antonio Buhawe successfully conducted monitoring and evaluation on " High Valued Spices Production and Organic Concoction Preparation" at brgy. Nueva Era, Bunawan, Agusan del Sur. The activity was participated by the farmers/beneficiaries of the barangay.

On June 13-14, 2024, the Faculty Extensionist from the College of Agriculture held a training seminar on "High Valued Spices Production & Utilization with Organic Concoction Application" at the adopted barangay Nueva Era, Bunawan, Agusan del Sur. The aforementioned extension activity was facilitated by experts from the Horticulture and Bachelor in Agricultural Technology Department, namely Joylyn D. Pausanos, Beverly O. Galicia, Emerson Jay O. Ibacarra, and Antonio B. Buhawe, and was attended by various farmers and aspiring farmers from the barangay.
The training on high-valued spice production and organic concoction application can significantly benefit the community by stimulating the local economy through job creation and increased income, enhancing food security by producing nutritious spices, safeguarding the environment through sustainable farming, preserving cultural heritage by upholding traditional knowledge, and empowering community members, particularly women, through economic opportunities.
