A historic milestone unfolded at the 𝐀𝐠𝐮𝐬𝐚𝐧 𝐝𝐞𝐥 𝐒𝐮𝐫 𝐒𝐭𝐚𝐭𝐞 𝐔𝐧𝐢𝐯𝐞𝐫𝐬𝐢𝐭𝐲 (ADSSU) - Trento Campus as we officially welcomed the top management led by our University President, 𝑫𝒓. 𝑱𝒐𝒚 𝑪. 𝑪𝒂𝒑𝒊𝒔𝒕𝒓𝒂𝒏𝒐, for an institutional visit today, March 19, 2026.‎‎

The visit was highlighted by the ceremonial presentation of the ADSSU Certification, a testament to the campus's unwavering commitment to academic excellence and its successful transition as a key pillar of the university system. Its presence reinforced the "One ADSSU" vision, inspiring the faculty, staff, and students to continue striving for global standards in agriculture and technology.‎ ‎

Together, as one community, we raise a sign—symbolizing our unity, our ambition, and our pride as Agsurnons.

Agusan del Sur State College of Agriculture and Technology (ASSCAT) has successfully completed the Institutional Accreditation for Area VII (Library), marking another significant milestone in its commitment to quality education and continuous improvement.

The assessment was conducted by 𝐃𝐫. 𝐀𝐧𝐢𝐭𝐚 𝐂. 𝐒𝐨𝐫𝐧𝐢𝐭𝐨 of the 𝐔𝐧𝐢𝐯𝐞𝐫𝐬𝐢𝐭𝐲 𝐨𝐟 𝐒𝐨𝐮𝐭𝐡𝐞𝐫𝐧 𝐌𝐢𝐧𝐝𝐚𝐧𝐚𝐨, 𝐊𝐚𝐛𝐚𝐜𝐚𝐧, 𝐂𝐨𝐭𝐚𝐛𝐚𝐭𝐨, who served as the assigned accreditor for the Library area. With her expertise and thorough evaluation, Dr. Sornito provided valuable insights and commendations that will further strengthen the delivery of library services at ASSCAT.

𝐓𝐡𝐞 𝐋𝐞𝐚𝐫𝐧𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐑𝐞𝐬𝐨𝐮𝐫𝐜𝐞 𝐂𝐞𝐧𝐭𝐞𝐫 (𝐋𝐑𝐂), under the leadership of 𝐌𝐬. 𝐂𝐡𝐞𝐥𝐥𝐲 𝐋. 𝐋𝐮𝐦𝐚𝐧𝐚𝐬, 𝐌𝐋𝐈𝐒, 𝐇𝐞𝐚𝐝 𝐋𝐢𝐛𝐫𝐚𝐫𝐢𝐚𝐧, played a central role in ensuring a well-prepared, compliant, and service-oriented environment for the accreditation. Through the collective effort of the LRC team, the library successfully presented its systems, services, facilities, and innovations aligned with institutional standards.

Ms. Lumanas extended her heartfelt appreciation to the Top Management, led by 𝐃𝐫. 𝐉𝐨𝐲 𝐂. 𝐂𝐚𝐩𝐢𝐬𝐭𝐫𝐚𝐧𝐨, 𝐂𝐨𝐥𝐥𝐞𝐠𝐞 𝐏𝐫𝐞𝐬𝐢𝐝𝐞𝐧𝐭, for the unwavering support provided to the library and for prioritizing the continuous enhancement of academic resources. She also expressed her gratitude to the 𝐐𝐮𝐚𝐥𝐢𝐭𝐲 𝐀𝐬𝐬𝐮𝐫𝐚𝐧𝐜𝐞 𝐃𝐢𝐫𝐞𝐜𝐭𝐨𝐫, 𝐃𝐫. 𝐒𝐡𝐞𝐢𝐥𝐚 𝐆. 𝐑𝐞𝐲𝐞𝐬, 𝐭𝐨𝐠𝐞𝐭𝐡𝐞𝐫 𝐰𝐢𝐭𝐡 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐞𝐧𝐭𝐢𝐫𝐞 𝐐𝐀 𝐓𝐞𝐚𝐦 for their guidance, coordination, and commitment throughout the accreditation preparations.

Additionally, Ms. Lumanas expressed her sincere thanks to the 𝐋𝐢𝐛𝐫𝐚𝐫𝐲 𝐏𝐞𝐫𝐬𝐨𝐧𝐧𝐞𝐥 for their diligent efforts in preparing the assigned documents and ensuring that the library facilities were well-organized and ready for the ocular visit. Their teamwork and dedication played a vital role in the smooth and successful conduct of the accreditation.

The successful completion of the Institutional Accreditation for Area VII affirms ASSCAT’s dedication to maintaining a robust learning environment and delivering responsive, student-centered library services. The institution remains steadfast in upholding excellence as it moves forward with its mission to support instruction, research, and community engagement through accessible and high-quality learning resources.

The Agusan del Sur State College of Agriculture and Technology (ASSCAT) Learning Resource Center, led by Ms. Chelly L. Lumanas, MLIS, Head of the Learning Resource Center, actively took part in the Sixth Workshop for IA Visit Preparation held on November 13, 2025, at the QAM Function Room, Bunawan Campus.

The workshop, organized by the Quality Assurance Management Office, aimed to finalize and present the Institutional Accreditation (IA) Portfolios, Means of Verification (MOVs) per Benchmark Statement, and corresponding video presentations for each area. This activity is part of the college’s continuous efforts to ensure quality standards and readiness for the upcoming accreditation visit.

The participation of the Learning Resource Center underscores its commitment to supporting the institution’s quality assurance initiatives and sustaining excellence in the delivery of library and learning services.

These valuable resources were acquired during the recent Book Fair held at the ASSCAT Learning Resource Center, Main Campus. With this new addition, the Trento Campus Learning Resource Center continues to strengthen its collection to support the academic and research needs of BS-ENTREP students and faculty.

Students are encouraged to visit the Learning Resource Center to explore and make use of these newly available materials.

On June 5, 2025, the Agusan del Sur State College of Agriculture and Technology (ASSCAT) Trento Campus had the pleasure of hosting a quick yet meaningful visit from the librarians and library staff of the University of Southern Mindanao (USM), Kabacan. This visit was led by 𝑫𝒓. 𝑺𝒖𝒔𝒂𝒏 𝑺. 𝑴𝒂𝒓𝒕𝒊𝒏𝒆𝒛, Director of the Kundo E. Pahm Learning Resource Center.

The visit served as an opportunity for professional and educational engagement, as well as a chance to strengthen ties between our institutions. It was also a preparation for future collaboration, aimed at advancing library services and fostering mutual growth in the field of academic librarianship.

We were especially proud to have 𝐒𝐢𝐫. 𝐅𝐫𝐚𝐧𝐜𝐢𝐬𝐜𝐨 𝐕. 𝐃𝐞𝐥𝐚 𝐏𝐞𝐧𝐚 , a distinguished alumnus of USM’s Bachelor of Library and Information Science (BLIS) program, join us during this occasion. His presence underscored the enduring connections between USM and its graduates who continue to contribute significantly to the profession.

This visit highlighted the invaluable role of alumni in sustaining vibrant academic communities and emphasized the importance of collaboration among librarians and information professionals. We extend our deepest thanks to Dr. Martinez and the USM library team for taking the time to visit us and for their openness in laying the groundwork for future partnerships.

We look forward to nurturing this relationship and to collaborating further on initiatives that will enhance library services for both institutions.

Successful Day 2 Marks Conclusion of ASSCAT Book Fair 2025
May 28, 2025 – ASSCAT Main Campus

The second and final day of the ASSCAT Book Fair 2025 wrapped up with enthusiasm and active participation from faculty, staff, and students at the Main Campus Learning Resource Center. Attendees enjoyed browsing and selecting a wide array of books suited to their academic needs and personal interests.

The event provided an engaging space for the ASSCAT community to explore updated resources across various disciplines. Many students expressed excitement over finding new references that align with their coursework, while faculty and staff took the opportunity to select materials to enhance their teaching and departmental collections.

Adding a memorable touch to the event, book dealers and Learning Resource Center personnel gathered for a photo opportunity, capturing the spirit of collaboration and shared commitment to academic excellence.

The two-day fair successfully highlighted ASSCAT’s dedication to enriching its learning environment and strengthening its library holdings through inclusive and meaningful initiatives.

The Agusan del Sur State College of Agriculture and Technology (ASSCAT) launched a two-day Book Fair today, May 27, 2025, at the Main Campus Learning Resource Center. The event aims to enhance the institution's library collections and support the academic needs of students and faculty across all campuses.

Librarians and faculty members from various departments participated in the selection of updated and relevant books from several publishers. The Trento Campus also took part in the activity, selecting resources to help improve its own learning materials.

The book fair serves as an initiative to promote collaborative resource building and ensure that all ASSCAT campuses have access to quality and up-to-date references.

The event highlights ASSCAT’s ongoing efforts to strengthen academic support through well-curated library resources.
