| Western Philippines University (WPU) warmly welcomed delegates from Classmate Co. Ltd., Japan on March 25, 2026, for a collaborative meeting held at the WPU Main Campus, Aborlan, Palawan.
Following the successful signing of the Memorandum of Understanding (MOU), both institutions reaffirmed their commitment to sustaining and expanding their partnership through strategic and forward-looking initiatives. As part of this continuing collaboration, the meeting aimed to explore and define future directions for the partnership.
The morning session at the Main Campus was attended by College Deans, the ASILS Principal, and the Director of the Student Welfare Services Office. During the meeting, the Classmate oVice platform was reintroduced, opening opportunities for future online intercultural interactions between WPU students, particularly those in high school, and their counterparts in Japan. This initiative aims to enhance students’ communication skills, especially in using English as a global language, and to build their confidence in engaging with international peers.
In the afternoon, the Classmate Co. Ltd. delegation paid an official visit to the University President at the WPU Puerto Princesa City Campus to discuss partnership updates and future collaborative initiatives.
The delegation also toured key university facilities and projects, including the WPU Agritourism Showcase and Leisure Park, various agricultural sites, the Paraoakan Project, and the GEMPHIL Project.
WPU continues to expand its global network and foster meaningful partnerships across borders!

In our very first attempt to join the UI GreenMetric World University Rankings, Western Philippines University (WPU) has earned an impressive standing — 61st among Philippine Higher Education Institutions and 1,142nd worldwide.
What is the UI GreenMetric Ranking?
The UI GreenMetric is a global sustainability ranking that evaluates universities based on their commitment to environmental management, sustainable operations, climate action, energy efficiency, waste reduction, water conservation, transportation systems, and education on sustainability. It aims to inspire HEIs to develop eco-friendly policies and create greener, more sustainable campuses.
According to the latest results, WPU earned a total of 4,667.5 points, with the following category scores:
Setting & Infrastructure (SI): 1125
Energy & Climate Change (EC): 825
Waste (WS): 175
Water (WR): 195
