ATM: A Double Recognition for IEAO!

The WPU Internationalization and External Affairs Office (IEAO) receives the "Gawad Lingkod Bayaning Dangal ng Bansa" and "Gawas Internasyonal Gold" during the WPU Lingkod Bayani Awards Night on October 1, 2026, recognizing its contribution to elevating WPU’s national and global standing through THE, WURI, and UI GreenMetric rankings.

Led by Director Dr. Anne Gellie Pablo Limco, who is currently representing WPU at a partnership conference in Cebu, IEAO continues to build bridges that bring WPU to the world.

WE’VE RANKED UP 💚

Another milestone for Western Philippines University in the UI GreenMetric World University Rankings.

From 1,142 to 908 in the world, and from 61 to 52 in the Philippines, shows the efforts of the WPU community toward building a greener and more sustainable university.

But beyond the numbers, what matters is the opportunity to subject ourselves to this kind of assessment.

Rankings such as GreenMetric provide us with a benchmark...a way to see where we are, recognize what we are doing well, and identify where we still have room to improve. More importantly, they help guide us in strengthening university greenness through our infrastructure, energy and climate initiatives, waste management, water conservation, transportation, education and research, governance, and digitalization.

The ranking is not the destination. It is a guide for the work that lies ahead.

We celebrate the progress, acknowledge the gaps, and keep moving forward.

There is still much to do, but we are getting there...one sustainable step at a time. 🌱

Energy & Climate Change (EC): 990
Waste (WS): 625
Water (WR): 295
Transportation (TR): 1225
Education & Research (ED): 950
Governance & Digitalization (GD): 987.5

This recognition shows the collective efforts of the WPU community in advancing sustainable practices across campus operations, education, research, governance, and institutional development.

While we are grateful for this achievement, the ranking also provides valuable direction on areas where we can continue to improve. WPU remains committed to strengthening its sustainability initiatives and contributing meaningfully to the Sustainable Development Goals.

Western Philippines University (WPU), through the Internationalization and External Affairs Office (WPU IEAO), joins the CHED FLAIR (Filipino Leaders in Advancing International Reputation) Masterclass – NCR & Southern Luzon Leg, themed “Beyond Rankings: Strengthening Global Reputation,” happening today, September 22–23, 2026, at Twin Lakes Hotel, Laurel, Batangas.

The masterclass brings together higher education institutions to deepen understanding and strategies on internationalization and global university reputation, with discussions focusing on:

Another meaningful exchange unfolded as students from the WPU Agricultural Science Integrated Laboratory School (ASILS) and Kamikawa High School-Hokkaido came together for the Online Intercultural Interaction with Classmate Japan on September 10, 2026.

The activity brought together selected students from Grades 7–10, providing them with an opportunity to connect, exchange perspectives, and learn more about each other’s cultures.

Beyond the virtual interaction, the program strengthened the spirit of friendship, collaboration, and shared learning between our students and our Japanese counterparts.

Western Philippines University joins the 3rd GCC International Research Conference on Global Citizenship Education (IRCON GCED 2026)!

Western Philippines University proudly takes part in the 3rd GCC International Research Conference on Global Citizenship Education (IRCON GCED 2026), hosted by Palawan State University in partnership with the GCED Cooperation Centre–Philippines and the Philippine Normal University.

Anchored on the theme, "Academe as a Global Actor for Peace and Global Citizenship Education: Transformative Pathways for International Understanding through Education for Sustainable Development and Global Citizenship Education," the conference brings together educators, researchers, policymakers, and institutional leaders to exchange ideas, strengthen partnerships, and advance transformative education for peace, sustainability, and global citizenship.

Through its participation, WPU reaffirms its commitment to internationalization, academic collaboration, and the promotion of quality education that prepares globally competent, socially responsible, and future-ready citizens.
