ACHIEVEMENT HIGHLIGHTS

We sincerely extend our appreciation to Divine Word University – Kaindi Campus, Wewak, for the warm hospitality, friendship, and support extended to our students during their six-week On-the-Job Training (OJT) in Wewak.

During the six-week period, students from Building Construction and Cookery had the opportunity to gain valuable hands-on industry experience. This practical exposure enabled them to apply the theoretical knowledge and practical skills they acquired in the classroom and workshops to real-world working environments.

At Bernard Narokobi TVET Centre-Wewak, we remain committed to providing affordable, quality, competency-based training to our young people. Our goal is to equip them with the practical skills, knowledge, and confidence needed to pursue employment opportunities, create their own businesses, and become self-reliant and productive members of society.

PRE-INDEPENDENCE CELEBRATION AT THE CENTRE

Though small in scale, it was a significant and meaningful occasion at Bernard Narokobi TVET Centre-Wewak, as a few of our students joined the School Management and Instructors to commemorate Papua New Guinea’s Independence.

The celebration featured a mini flag-raising ceremony, followed by exciting volleyball games and indoor fun activities. Staff members’ families also actively participated, making the occasion even more enjoyable and memorable.

The event truly demonstrated the spirit of unity, teamwork and togetherness among the School Management, staff, students and their families.

With most of our students currently undertaking On-the-Job Training (OJT), we commend the few students who remained at the Centre for their commitment, enthusiasm and dedication in taking part in school-organised activities. Your participation is greatly appreciated.

As we continue to celebrate our nation’s independence, let us uphold the values of unity, respect, teamwork and service as we work together to build a better Papua New Guinea.

SECOND VISIT BY NATIONAL FISHERIES AUTHORITY & EDUCATION OFFICIALS

Bernard Narokobi TVET Centre – Wewak was recently privileged to host the second visit by a team from the National Fisheries Authority (NFA), accompanied by Education officials from the Curriculum Division, led by First Assistant Secretary Mr Kosenga.

The purpose of the visit was to inspect, monitor and audit the implementation of the Know About Business in Fisheries (KABF) program, which our institution has been conducting under National Certificate Level 1 (NC1) and National Certificate Level 2 (NC2).

Bernard Narokobi TVET Centre – Wewak was among the selected Technical High Schools and Vocational Education and Training (VET) institutions to implement the KABF program following its formal unpacking in Lae, Morobe Province, in 2024.

The continued implementation of KABF represents one of the key achievements of our institution, complementing the various technical and vocational programs currently offered at the Centre. The program provides students with valuable knowledge and skills in business, entrepreneurship and fisheries-related opportunities, preparing them to explore sustainable livelihood and business pathways.
Currently, the KABF program operates under the Business & ICT Department as part of the Centre's school management structure.

We are proud of this achievement and remain committed to strengthening partnerships with relevant government agencies and stakeholders to provide our students with meaningful, industry-relevant education and training opportunities.
