Welcome to the team Mr Kotupi!
This week we welcomed our new STM staff member, Mr. Tom Kotupi, who commenced on his new role on Monday this week.

We thank Mr. Jackson Trudi – Newmont Security Operations for accepting our invitation and speaking to our current WRP trainees and FODE students on site-wide security and safety measures including checkpoints at the gate.

Toksave📢ACADEMIC SUPPORT

Our Academic Support Students from Lihir Secondary School are expected to come in every second Saturday to access STM Resources and have sessions with the STM staff.

Past WRP Trainees continue to come to STM on Wednesdays and Fridays to apply for the weekly job vacancies that are advertised. A good number of former WRP Trainees have been successful in their job applications this term and we are anticipating more in the coming weeks.

📣ACADEMIC SUPPORT
*Our Academic Support Students from Lihir Secondary School are expected to come to STM every second Saturday to access STM Resources and assistance from STM Staff.
*Former LIS Scholarship Students who are currently doing their Grades 11 and 12 at OLSH International School in Kavieng are also in the Academic Support program. They are expected to participate in the program during their Term Breaks.

📣WORK READY PROGRAM
Preparations for the Batch 4 Work Ready Program for this year are complete, and the 19 Trainees will commence their Training on Monday 13th October 2025 as scheduled. The program will run for 8 weeks. All Trainees have completed the minimum requirement of Grade 10 & 12 Education with additional studies in Vocational Training Centres as well as College and University.
NOTE -Past WRP Trainees will continue to come to STM on Wednesdays and Fridays to apply for the weekly job vacancies that are advertised.

🎓 Academic Support Program
Our Academic Support students from Lihir Secondary School attend STM every second Saturday to access resources and guidance from STM staff.
We also support former LIS Scholarship students currently studying Grades 11 & 12 at OLSH International School, Kavieng, who join the program during term breaks.
The program focuses on current studies and provides valuable info on Tertiary Education Institutions, helping students plan for future studies and careers. 🌟

👷‍♀️👷‍♂️ Work Ready Program Update – Week 3
Last week, our 3rd batch of WRP trainees completed the Upstander and Trupla Meri Trupla Man (TMTM) trainings. All trainees participated and shared personal reflections. A big thank you to Ms Aplena Waho, Ms Alu Kila, and Ms Jermah Kambao from Respect@Work for delivering such impactful sessions. 🙌

We also welcomed a team from Lihir Technical Training Centre (LTTC) led by Mr Jonathan Gangadin to speak on the Apprenticeship Training Program. Over 30 current and former trainees attended and were encouraged to apply when applications open in 2 weeks. Thank you to Mr Gangadin, Mr Jack Tambarie, and Mr Felix Tombo for the informative presentation. 🎓🔧

The 17 WRP Trainees of Batch 1 2025 successfully completed their program on the 28th of March 2028.

Please note - We have stopped the acceptance of new WRP applications since 1st of December 2024 and this is still in effect. Acceptance of new WRP applications will be advised through a general Toksave by mid-June 2025.
