Jiuteis ROBINSON shatters the Papua New Guinea One Mile Record at Glasgow 2026 Commonwealth Games running 4:19.14

The previous record held by Sapolai Yao of 4:27.29 from 2005.

Jiuteis placed 12th in his heat and will not progress to the final.

PNG Olympic Committee have today released the names of athletes selected for the Commonwealth Games. The team includes 17 track and field athletes including two para athletes .Team Manageress is Josepha Wailoni , Head Coach Brett Green and coaches Subul Babo , Allan Akia and Jackie Travertz. PNG will also be represented in Swimming , Boxing Weightlifting and Basketball .. Teams were finalised after the Justification Committee completed its screening of nominations by Sports and endorsed those athletes considered to have met the selection criteria. The Athletics contingent is expected to leave on 21 July for Glasgow with the athletics competition scheduled for 27 July to 01 August

Monica Kalua went to number three on the all time best list for PNG in the half marathon as she clocked an impressive time of 1hr 31min 22 seconds at the Gold Coast Half Marathon on Saturday. Making her debut over the 21.1km distance, Monica maintained a solid and consistent pace from start to finish, averaging 4mins 15 secs per km or roughly 21mins for each 5km. From the Gold Coast Monica will head to New Mexico Highlands University next to take up a track/cross country scholarship
