Hope Academy provides access to a wide variety of online courses Hope Academy is home grown. To give them hope … that is what inspires us. Reaching for the stars?
It is a community enterprise of the people of the East Calvados Islands, Sudest, Rossel, and Misima, to end the frustration of our young people who have been rejected from the formal education system because of lack of space. The parents of our young people also support us because they, too, are disappointed at investing a lot in the education of their children, only to find that that the children
cannot complete it. We, tutors and technicians, the staff of Hope Academy, all have our homes in these islands. Some of us are university students having time out midway through our courses. We are nearly all young people, and we understand how different are the dreams of our students from those of their parents and grandparents. The support and guidance of senior members of our communities give us energy and enthusiasm. They understand that, without a complete education, many of their grandchildren face a bleak future if they remain in our islands. Our hopes for the future of the Academy go beyond the shores of our islands. Our goal is to build something that will be able to give hope, and the opportunity for a complete education, to the many thousands of young people in Milne Bay Province, and in the rest of P.N.G. who, like our own, see it as the key to what they want to do in their lives. Not only P.N.G., but the world! Perhaps. But, given adequate resources, what we can do for our own young people we can do for others in any part of the world that technology can reach.
