Saturday, November 8th, 2025, both Harlandale HS and McCollum HS percussion programs competed at the 2025 Brandeis South Texas Classic Percussion Contest—and they dominated!

This marks the first time in both district and contest history that both Harlandale ISD high schools swept the entire competition—making it a complete victory for HISD!

Honoring Culture and Tradition at Terrell Wells Middle School

Students Terrell Wells_HISD created a beautiful ofrenda in celebration of Día de los Mu***os, honoring loved ones who have passed and celebrating their lasting impact on our lives.

Adding to this meaningful tribute, the Terrell Wells Mariachi performed a heartfelt serenata at the ofrenda — a moment filled with music, remembrance, and pride in our shared heritage.

Día de los Mu***os is more than a holiday — it’s a celebration of life, memory, and community. Experiences like this remind us how important it is for students to connect with their culture through creative expression.

At Harlandale ISD, we are proud to provide culturally relevant learning opportunities that honor our students’ identities and celebrate the rich traditions that make our community so special.

This past weekend, Middle School Choir students auditioned for a spot in the TMEA Region XI Middle School Choir. Students from around area auditioned against other middle school students for the opportunity to perform with the TMEA Region XI Choir made up of the highest performing choir students in the area.

Harlandale ISD, and its commitment to excellence is proud to recognize 13 students who earned spots.

Harlandale Middle_HISD under the direction of Ms. Sarah Arce had 3 students earn spots.

Leal Middle_HISD under the direction of Mr. Miguel Perez had 4 students earn spots.

Terrell Wells_HISD under the direction of Ms. Hailey Atwell had 6 students earn spots.

Congratulations to both of our Harlandale ISD band programs.

Harlandale High School and McCollum High School have been working on their marching shows since the summer, and all their hard work was displayed at the UIL Region 11 Marching Contest.

Both bands earned a sweepstakes and qualify to compete at the UIL Area Marching Contest.
