So, another nice testimonial...

And learning Medical English is as easy as consistently developing certain habits, you should try it!

Attention Doctors and Nurses! 🩺 Did you know telling an angry patient to "Calm Down" could be the reason you miss your Grade B? It’s a common mistake that fails the Clinical Communication Criteria. 📉

OET examiners test empathy. Saying "Calm Down" sounds dismissive and ignores the patient's perspective. To pass, you must move from giving orders to building a bridge.

If a patient becomes agitated during your roleplay, use this response:

"I can understand why this might be frustrating; I'm sorry to be the one to tell you. Shall we focus on the next steps instead?"

Why it works:

Validation: Demonstrates you have identified their emotion (Relationship Building).

Apology: De-escalates tension immediately by acknowledging the situation.

Permission: Hands control back to the patient, moving the consultation forward collaboratively.

This shift proves you are a collaborative communicator—exactly what is needed for a Grade B.

Managing tension with empathy is just as important as your grammar. 🩺✨

Stop sounding like a textbook.

Doctors speak a specific language.

When you use "General English" phrases in a clinical setting, you lose authority.

Here is one easy switch you can make today.

❌ Don't say: "The patient has chest pain."

✅ Say: "The patient presents with chest pain."

It is a small change.

But it signals to other doctors that you are one of them. 🩺

👇 Try it below. Write a sentence using "presents with."

4. Repite el proceso
