In a world of remote teams and global boards, leadership is no longer defined by being in the same room. It’s defined by how we navigate the "digital distance."

Leading online requires a higher level of intentionality. It’s about practicing active listening through a lens, fostering psychological safety in a Slack thread, and ensuring every virtual gathering has a clear human purpose.

💡Active Listening: Tuning in to what isn’t being said during a Zoom call.
💡Psychological Safety: Creating a digital space where team members feel safe to speak up, even when they’re thousands of miles away.
💡Purposeful Interaction: Ensuring that every message and meeting is an opportunity for connection, not just a task on the checklist.

The best collaboration happens when we use technology to bridge the distance, but use empathy to close the gap. It’s about making sure your team feels seen and heard, regardless of where their desk is located.

AI isn't a threat to leadership; it's an accelerator.

In boardrooms and team meetings globally, the conversation around Artificial Intelligence often defaults to fear of losing jobs, outdated skills and an uncertain future.

But for leaders, this narrative misses the crucial point: AI isn't designed to replace human ingenuity, it's designed to augment it.

If we allow AI to handle the data, the patterns, and the heavy lifting, it can free us to focus on the uniquely human elements of work: strategic vision, creative problem-solving, and, most importantly, connection.

Your role as a leader in this new era isn't to merely implement technology. It's to manage the emotional impact of change, empower your team to adapt, and inspire a vision where human intelligence works in harmony with artificial intelligence.

It's about building psychological safety so your team feels empowered to learn, not paralyzed by fear. It's about leveraging self-awareness to manage your own anxieties and lead with clarity.

We admire people like Lewis Hamilton for their wins… but what really shapes them is what we don’t see: the failures, the doubts, the days that didn’t go as planned. It’s the same in leadership.

The most effective leaders I work with aren’t the ones who never fail, they’re the ones who know how to respond to failure:

✔️They get curious instead of defensive

✔️They ask “What can I learn?” instead of “What’s wrong with me?”

✔️They turn setbacks into information, not identity

That’s emotional intelligence in action.

💭 When you think about your last “failure,” what did it teach you about how you lead?

Sharing some lines from my book that merit further reflection. Which one resonates most with you?

Putting yourself out there is a leadership decision.
Not because you have all the answers, but because you are willing to be seen while you are still growing.

Every time you step into a room to speak, present, or lead a conversation, you are doing more than sharing information. You are showing the type of leader you want to be.

Here’s what I’ve learned about leadership visibility:
If your nervous system is activated, it does not mean you are not ready. It means you care. And emotional intelligence is what helps you turn that energy into impact.

Before any stage, meeting, or presentation, I come back to EQ and I run this simple reset:

Breathe. Ground. Connect.

Give yourself a moment to breathe through the nerves and name what you’re feeling. Then come back to your “why”: What do you want people to walk away with because you spoke up today? That one shift turns anxious energy into leadership presence.

As we get ready for Super Bowl Sunday, I was impacted by this reflection from one of the greatest of all time…

Most people see Tom Brady’s 7 Super Bowl rings and think “natural talent” or “physical discipline.” But if you listen closely, he’s talking about something much deeper: The power of the Emotional Intelligence (EQ).

Whether you’re on the field or at the office, EQ is key. As I share in my book, Emotional Intelligence means mastering the internal game so you can dominate the external one.

Brady didn’t just lead with his arm; he led with his ability to stay composed, empathetic, and focused when the pressure was high.

How are you training your EQ today? Let’s get you ready for your next big win. 🏈

This week, I facilitated the Mujeres de HACE Entrepreneur Program where we had pitch presentations.

One of the most powerful things a community and a team can build is a culture of FEEDBACK where people challenge each other with care and leave the room stronger.

It was amazing to see how everyone supported other entrepreneurs with thoughtful suggestions and energetic praise.

That’s one of the reasons I love working with HACE programs because they embody leadership development in action. These Latina entrepreneurs showed up with courage to present their pitch and generosity toward one another and I know their businesses will continue to thrive!🚀

Assumptions are mental shortcuts that speed us up, but they often point us in the wrong direction. Effective leaders pause to check the story they’re telling themselves and lead with curiosity:

1) Name the assumption.

2) Look for evidence (for and against).

3) Ask a clarifying question or run a small test.

Example: Instead of “They ignored the process,” try, “I noticed the handoff slipped, what got in the way, and how can we prevent it next time?” That move preserves trust, reveals real constraints, and leads to better decisions.

I’ve seen this again and again with the leaders and teams I work with:
The turning point isn’t a new tool, a new process, or a new dashboard.
It’s when leaders start paying attention to how people feel, react, and relate to each other, and use that information to make better decisions.

Emotional intelligence isn’t about being “nice” or making everyone happy.
It’s about:
• Reading the room before you speak
• Handling conflict without burning bridges
• Building the kind of trust that keeps people engaged and committed

That’s why I wrote EQ Playbook, to treat emotional intelligence as what it really is: a strategic advantage.
