After teaching Spanish here for a while, I keep hearing the same observations from expats.

3 things expats notice about Spanish in Panama:

1️⃣ Everyone speaks FAST

Even if you know Spanish, Panamanian Spanish can feel like it’s in fast-forward.

2️⃣ People drop the “S” sound

You might hear:

“gracia” instead of gracias
“buena” instead of buenas
“má o meno” instead of más o menos

3️⃣ Panamanians love short answers

You ask:

“¿Cómo estás?”

You get:

👉 “Todo bien.”

End of conversation 😅

So next time someone asks you “¿Cómo estás?”, the easiest answer is simply:

I’ve been teaching Spanish in Panama for several years, mostly through private lessons.

Coronado Language School is something I created to offer a more structured small-group format for people who want consistent speaking practice.
