Winchester Rural School

Winchester Rural School Year 1-6 Primary School Wi******er Rural School first opened in 1870. The local community is very friendly and supportive.

The School is proud of its history and traditions and is moving forward confidently into the twenty-first century. The community has a traditionally strong involvement with the school, and there is always support for school events and working bees. The school merged with Milford School on the Wi******er School site at the start of 2005 to create Wi******er Rural School. The merger brought together

the best of the two communities to form a vibrant new school. The driving force behind Wi******er Rural has been continuous school improvement and always the belief that we can do better, not working harder but smarter. The focus is always on the learning culture establishing school-wide conditions for learning. Visitors to Wi******er Rural quickly gain an impression of the strong culture of consistency and quality where organisational pride and a passion for teaching bind the staff together. In striving to achieve this our approach at Wi******er Rural is focused around 5 Seeds for Learning.

All our children have work in this exhibition at the Aigantighe Art Gallery - from artworks they created for the Art Show earlier in the year. Go in and see the walls at the art gallery and be like a 'real' artist:)

🎉 WE DID IT! WE’RE OVER THE LINE! 🎉

After months of fundraising, planning, community support and plenty of hard work, we can finally say it…
OUR TURF DREAM IS BECOMING A REALITY!

We are absolutely thrilled to announce that the Temuka Area Community Fund, administered by the Aoraki Foundation, has awarded our Wi******er Rural School Turf Project $8,000!
And what makes this even more special? We are incredibly proud to be the very first recipient of a grant from the Temuka Area Community Fund. ❤️❤️❤️

This incredible funding has been the boost that has got us over the line, enabling us to finally proceed with installation of our new all-weather multisport turf. 👏
What started as a big idea for our school and community is now becoming a reality.
A massive THANK YOU to the Temuka Area Community Fund and Aoraki Foundation for believing in our project and helping make this happen.

The support from our school and wider community has been incredible. So many people have jumped on board, backed the project and shown us just how much this turf means to our community. It has been a huge vote of confidence in what we’re trying to achieve and we couldn’t be more grateful.

And to everyone who has helped us get to this point- thank you. Getting here has taken a huge community effort, from PTA fundraising, business sponsorships, personal donations and grants to the countless hours of time and energy so many people have put in to make our turf dream a reality. 🙌

WE DID IT! 🎉
Now… let’s get this turf built!

A huge thank you to Greg Collins and the LedgenDairy team at Progressive Livestock for coming on board as a Silver Sponsor of the Wi******er Rural School Turf Project.

With its roots firmly in South Canterbury and a nationwide network of trusted agents, Progressive Livestock has built a reputation for strong relationships and outstanding service across the dairy, beef and sheep sectors. Their team takes pride in seeing every deal through from start to finish and continues to strengthen its presence as an independent seller at the Temuka Sales.

Community is at the heart of what they do. Their agents are often found on the sidelines supporting local sport and families, making their support of our project a natural fit.🙏

We're incredibly grateful to have Progressive Livestock on the team as we work towards creating a new all-weather multisport turf area that will benefit our students and wider school community for years to come. 👏👏👏

Thank you, Greg and the entire Progressive Livestock team, for your generosity and for helping bring this project to life.

Wow! Wow! Wow! 🤩
Thank you, Albert D Hally Trust!

A little background on the incredible legacy behind this generous support:
Born in Temuka in 1902, Albert D Hally was a passionate advocate for South Canterbury, giving his time and support to sport, community initiatives, and local organisations. Through his will, he established the A D Hally Charitable Trust in 1966 to ensure that support for the region would continue for generations to come.

Today, that legacy continues through funding that helps strengthen and enrich communities across South Canterbury — and we’re incredibly grateful that our Turf Project is part of that story.

Thank you so much for your generous grant of $10,000 we are absolutely blown away!
