Day 4 of Book Week was packed with excitement, starting with our Book Swap Day where students traded pre-loved stories for fresh new reads! The fun continued into the afternoon with an incredible live performance from the Duffy Theatre crew, who brought their story to life with tons of energy and laughs. What a fantastic day celebrating the joy of reading! 📚🎭

Book Character Day meets Daffodil Day! 📚

This Friday, 28 August, our tamariki are invited to come dressed as their favourite book character or wear yellow to show their support for Daffodil Day.

If you are in a position to donate, please bring along a gold coin or scan the QR code on the poster to donate directly to Morningside School’s fundraising page. All donations will help fund accommodation for people who need to travel for cancer treatment.

Donations are completely optional. We look forward to seeing everyone’s creative costumes and a sea of yellow across our kura!

Day three of Book Week was all about connection as our whānau groups gathered for a wonderful block of tuakana/teina learning! Older and younger students teamed up across Matakohe, Tarewa, Parihaka, and Pohe to dive into story-inspired crafts and activities. Our older tamariki shone as supportive mentors, bringing favorite books to life alongside their younger buddies.

Kia Ora CWK Nix - how are our cooking skills?! 🧁🇳🇿

The tamariki of Kōtare C put on their chef hats and whipped up a fresh cupcake to ask CWK Nix two big questions:

How do you get your followers to keep watching the videos you post? 📲

How do you stay popular on the internet and keep your content interesting? 🌟

In the build up to our annual Book Week we have all been participating in the HELL Reading Challenge 📖🍕
At our team assemblies on Friday some very brave and awesome tamariki shared their book reviews - Juniors shared to our Seniors first and then some Seniors headed to the Juniors to inspire them.
Our displays this year are amazing once again and tamariki are busy completing their 7 reviews, which will earn them a free Hell Pizza pizza!
Happy reading Morningside School - we can't wait to get eating!
