👩‍🍳🧑‍🚒🩺 Role Play in Action with our Tuakana Tamariki!
Our Tuakana tamariki have been busy exploring the world through role play and imaginative play! 💭

Through pretending, creating and taking on different roles, the tamariki are developing their communication, confidence, problem-solving and social skills. They are learning to negotiate ideas, work together, share responsibilities and express themselves in meaningful ways.

It’s beautiful to watch their imaginations come alive as they create their own stories, scenarios and little worlds together.

Ko te ako mā te tākaro — learning through play.

🍊💧 Sensory Exploration with Oranges 💧🍊
Today our teina tamariki enjoyed a fun and refreshing sensory experience exploring oranges and water!

The tamariki used their senses to touch, squeeze, smell, taste and explore the oranges as they discovered what happens when they are placed in and around water.

There were lots of opportunities for curiosity, investigation and learning through play, noticing textures, scents, colours and changes as they experimented.

It was wonderful to see their little hands busy, their minds curious and their faces filled with joy! 🧡

🍳 Process Cooking with our Tuakana Tamariki! 🍞

Today our tuakana tamariki got hands on as we worked together to make a deliciously simple favourite, scrambled eggs on toast!

The tamariki were involved in each step of the process, from cracking and whisking the eggs, to helping prepare the toast and watching as everything came together. There was lots of kōrero, turn-taking, teamwork and of course, plenty of excitement when it was time to taste our creation!

Process cooking is such a wonderful way to support tamariki to develop mana motuhake (independence), confidence and practical life skills, while also exploring early maths, science, communication and hauora through meaningful, hands on experiences.

Our tamariki showed great ako as they learnt alongside and from one another, working together to create something they could proudly enjoy.

These everyday moments may seem small, but they are where confidence grows, friendships flourish, and a lifelong love of learning begins. Through play, connection, and discovery, our Teina tamariki continue to amaze us every single day.

It's a privilege to witness these moments and celebrate each child as they grow into capable, curious, and compassionate little learners.

🦷✨ A big mihi to the amazing dental team who came to visit us today! ✨🦷

Our tamariki were absolute champions as they bravely opened wide and had their teeth checked. We are so proud of how confident, calm, and cooperative everyone was, ka pai tamariki!

Visits like these help our tamariki learn about the importance of looking after their smiles, building positive relationships with health professionals, and understanding that caring for our tinana (bodies) is an important part of wellbeing.

A huge thank you to the dental team for taking the time to kōrero with our tamariki, answer questions, and make the experience fun and positive.

If your whānau would like to follow up on your child’s dental care, you can contact the free dental service 0800 MY TEETH (0800 698 3384) for information, appointments, or support with children’s oral health needs.

🪥 Keep brushing, keep smiling, and keep those beautiful teeth shining! 😁✨

Growing leaders through play!

Our Tuakana tamariki have been embracing every opportunity to work together, share ideas, and support one another throughout their play. Whether they're creating, building, solving problems, or encouraging a friend, these moments are helping to strengthen their leadership skills in meaningful ways.

By taking turns, communicating, listening, and showing kindness, our tamariki are learning that great leaders lift others up. We love watching them build confidence, develop a strong sense of responsibility, and create positive relationships with their peers.
