The purpose of this award is to assist in enhancing tribal educational outcomes for Ngāti Awa. Two scholarships per eligible programme are available for any Ngāti Awa student who is enrolled full-time at Te Whare Wānanga o Awanuiārangi.

Eligible Programmes of Study:

Diploma (Level 5)
Bachelor's degree (Level 7)
Postgraduate Certificate (Level 8)
Postgraduate Diploma (Level 8)
Master's Degree (Level 9)
Doctoral Degree (Level 10)

Te Whare Wānanga o Awanuiārangi has launched a new research scholarship to strengthen Māori capability in artificial intelligence (AI).

As AI continues to reshape global systems, questions of responsibility, ethics, and cultural impact are becoming increasingly urgent. Across the world, indigenous scholars are contributing to these conversations, ensuring that technological development does not occur without critical cultural engagement.

Tauira from health programmes at Te Whare Wānanga o Awanuiārangi joined tauira from Massey University on our campus today for their annual Head Start Hui all studying towards qualifications in mental health.

Hosted by Te Rau Puāwai, a Māori mental health workforce development programme with a strong relationship with Te Rau Wānanga here at Te Whare Wānanga o Awanuiārangi.

We’re especially proud that Professor Te Kani Kingi serves as Chair of the Te Rau Puāwai Board, alongside fellow board members and mental health specialists who continue to strengthen the connection between our kaupapa and the development of the Māori mental health workforce.
