The Prime Minister has announced that New Zealand will move to Level 2 on Thursday 14th May. This means malls, cafes, restaurants, cinemas, and other public spaces like playgrounds and gyms can reopen.
On Monday 18 May schools will reopen to students and on Thursday 21 May, bars and pubs will be able to open. Social gatherings are limited to 10 people.
We need to continue to play safe: Wash you hands, keep your distance from others in public and if you're sick, stay home. Contact tracing is an important part of containing this virus. Keep a record of where you've been and who you met and wash you hands..

The current COVID-19 response is CIMS in action. This is a multi-agency response and the key principles - Responsive to Community Needs, Flexibility and Unity of effort are shown throughout the daily briefings. These principles have enabled personnel to respond effectively showing coordination across agencies. This, combined with the characteristics, roles and functions of CIMS have provided a framework that has supported the response both vertically and horizontally. For those of you watching the daily briefings, these are an excellent example of how briefings have been conducted. We look forward to working with you all post-response.
