I used to hate networking as an accountant.

why?

People thought we're all boring.

It took an accountant to take down Al Capone

Next time you meet an accountant ask them if they have any interesting stories work or non-work-related

for all of you accountants

tell them you're interesting stories in your life

What a loser. Stupid geek. Words do hurt and last a long time. His bullies nearly drown him twice.

That boy on the left lied, stole, and fought. He couldn't make friends. He tried to buy friends.

Every day he was fighting his bullies.

He didn't have a friend in the world.

Sometimes when I network, the guy on the right becomes that boy on the left.

I get scared of not making friends, being picked on and called names.

The guy on the right wants to help you feel confident and comfortable. Mostly he wants to go back and tell that little boy it's ok.

Being bullied as a child can have lifelong effects.

This is why networking is essential to me and why I want to help you.

Sometimes we have a hard time showing the world who we are.

This is the past I have been trying to hide.

June is men's health month

but I don't see much about it

here's the truth

often we are hiding

struggling in silence

or lashing out in anger

we don't always take care of ourselves

we are not always open

we are told not to have emotions

we are told men don't cry

I will be honest right now.

I'm struggling

most of my exercise is chasing my one-year-old

half of the time I want somebody to talk to

I miss the days where we called people

we didn't schedule calls or simply text

I want to go for coffee with business leaders

but

I don't want to be rejected because I have my son with me

I also know sometimes he's just loud! 🤣

Men

we need to do better

we need to treat ourselves better

we need to be more open like I've just shared
