Interschool Cross Country 2026

An amazing effort by all our runners at the Interschool Cross Country event yesterday - well done!!
Thank you to all the CHB schools for pushing through the drizzly weather and joining us :)

A huge thank you to all our helpers! Our awesome marshalls who help keep our runners on the right path and our fabulous food tent crew serving up delicious food all day with the Property Brokers Central Hawke's Bay bbq - Thank you!!

Thanks for bring the hot drinks Espresso Loco! And Epic Ministries Inc. for helping with the music to dance off the nerves 🥰

Well done to our Year 7 & 8 netball team, Flemington Ferns, who were the overall winners of their top grade after a tight final. These girls have worked really hard this season with great commitment and attitudes on and off the court. Many thanks to their coach Tilly Wilson🙌Awesome mahi girls! 👏

6.35am UPDATE: Power is on! School will be open and buses are running as normal.

Good evening everyone,

Just passing on the message, incase anyone has missed it, from Mr Richardson posted on the school Facebook chat in regards to school tomorrow Monday 24th August:

Hi everyone,
Just heard there is a power outage around Flemington and Centralines have just advised that the power is likely to be back on by 5pm tomorrow night (Monday 24th August).
We can't open the school without drinking water and toilets (which both require power) so may need to close for the day. I (Glen) will head down to school at 6am tomorrow (Monday 24th August) morning and check to see whether the power has been installed overnight and let you all know.

Fingers crossed this does not affect our school's power, we will be in touch
tomorrow morning as soon as we know more :)

GOTCHA Morning Tea

There were some full puku's last week after the 'Gotcha' morning tea with Mr Richardson!

This morning tea is to celebrate tamariki who have reached 50 'Gotcha' rewards!
'Gotcha' rewards are given our by our staff to tamariki who are caught displaying the school values; Respect, Integrity, Success or Empathy at school.☺️

ONGA 7's 2026

We had fantastic time last week at the Onga 7's tournament! This years weather was much more pleasant than last year!

We had 4 teams in this tournament this year; junior and senior rugby, senior netball and a hockey team.

Well done to all our teams for displaying the RISE values while at this tournament and having a great time while you were at it. And thank you to all our parent helpers who help to manage our teams for the day, very much appreciated.

Well done to Ongaonga School for another well run event and thanks to Central Hawke's Bay College for providing the reffs and umpires.

CENTRALINES VISIT

We had a awesome educational visit from the Centralines crew yesterday who presented their 'Power-Smart' safety programme to each class.
This programme tackles important and serious electrical safety messages which are potentially life-saving for the children in our community.
Our students were taken through a fun and informative presentation covering the basics of how electricity works, how to be safe around Centralines’ assets in the community, and how to report a problem. Students are also shown the safety gear and equipment Centralines workers use on the job and why it is so important. Not forgetting a special visit from their mascot 'Sparky'!🐶

BIG SAVE HOCKEY FESTIVAL 2026

In the second week of the holidays we had a huge number of our hockey players take part in the 3 day Big Save Hockey Festival in Napier.
This is a great experience for our players who, along with other CHB players, compete against 14 teams from all over the North Island. They had some awesome results with one of the Yr5-6 teams placing 4th and a Yr7-8 team placing 2nd over all!
