Today Piwakawaka class went to the debating chamber at Waimate District Council to present their class debate- Why doesnt Waituna Creek School have council bins? This term we are learning how to write to persuade. 🌟🌟🌟

The students represented an interest group and did an outstanding job of explaining their opinion/ reasons 🤩🤩🤩.

To say I was super proud was an understatement - everyone was confident , clearly spoken and showcased their persuasive writing.🙌🙌

We look forward to hearing from the Council on their decision. A huge thank you to Mayor Rowley and all the Concillors for taking the time to listen to our arguments. What an epic way to finish our persuasive writing work!!!

Finally the day arrived for the Waituna Creek Junior Nature Ninjas to build a Worm Farm for the school. They have been learning a lot about what type of environment they would have to make for their worms to thrive and how they could supply the worms with the food scraps they would need. Our new worm farm will assist the Nature Ninjas to create lovely compost for our plants that will eventually become part of their new Sensory Garden.

Today was a fantastic day - the Piwakawaka class showcased their persuasive writing in a class debate "Should school be 4 days" 🏫🏫🏫

We were super lucky to have Enya O'Donnell and Joel Roberts from Waimate High School debating team to give us some debating/ presentation tips.🌟🌟🌟
