Waianiwa Kindergarten

Waianiwa Kindergarten is now open Monday to Friday 8.30am to 2.30pm. We are now accepting enrolments. Please contact the Kindergarten for further information.

Waianiwa Kindergarten is located in a small rural town, Waianiwa and is currently licenced for 19 tamariki (children) a day. Our two qualified kaiako (teachers),aim to provide quality early childhood education and we encourage tamariki (children) to respect themselves, others and their environment. We seek to nurture our relationships with tamariki and their whānau (family). Please feel free to contact us with any further queries or questions!

Kia ore e te whānau, ngā tamariki have been busy this week using the tap tap as they create different scenes using the wooden shapes, small pins and hammers to put it all together. Most of ngā tamariki have been creating scenes from their busy spring life on the farm with quite a few calf sheds, cow sheds and paddocks full of sheep being created. Ka pai tamariki ma.

Kia ora e te whānau. Today we celebrated Daffodil Day through dressing up in yellow and creating our own daffodils within our art work. Daffodil day acknowledges those who have cancer and is an opportunity to donate to the Cancer Society. If you didn’t get a chance to make a donation and would like to, the link is below. Kia ora e te whānau,
This morning in the hall, Kaiako Steph helped the tamariki set up an exciting obstacle course!
The tamariki had lots of fun moving through the course, practising their balance, coordination, and physical skills. They also had opportunities to take turns, be patient while waiting for their friends, and encourage one another as they made their way through.
It was wonderful to see the tamariki supporting each other while building confidence and developing their gross motor skills through active play.

Kia ora e te whānau, it’s been so nice to get outside and enjoy Te Rā/the suns warm rays. Ngā tamariki are always keen to have some water play, so we added some warm water with blue colouring to our outside play experiences. Enjoy the sun this afternoon whānau.

Kia ora e te whānau. This morning after we hosed the sandpit, the tamariki made the most of the wet sand, building some amazing sandcastles. We also made some bubbles and noticed they blew away very quickly because it was quite windy. Our bird feeder was empty so we topped it up to keep the birds from getting hungry over the weekend. Have a lovely weekend everyone.

Kia ora e te whānau, this morning ngā tamariki got creative with our magnetic tiles -working collaboratively together, sharing their ideas, When ngā tamariki use magnetic tiles their is rich cognitive, physical, and social learning naturally happening. They are building fine motor skills, exploring early math and geometry, testing basic physics, and engaging in creative pretend play through open-ended exploration. Mā te wà - see you soon!

Kia ora e te whānau. This morning, there was some amazing construction with the magnets. The 4 year olds enjoyed exploring letters this afternoon, finding them in the gloop and putting them together to write their names. We also scrubbed and cleaned some of the toys, already for another week.

Kia ora e Te Whānau,
This morning we were lucky enough to have Frankie’s Mum Tayla visit and lead a Pilates session with our tamariki. It was a fantastic way to warm up on a chilly morning while getting our bodies moving.
After Tayla showed us a range of different poses, each tamaiti had the opportunity to choose a pose from the board for everyone to try. Kai pai tamariki ma!!
