The sprinkles of yellow throughout the school yesterday added a nice splash of colour and joy after a very busy week.

As at lunchtime yesterday we had raised $618.50 through the link and the coin collection. We all know people who are undergoing treatment, have had treatment or who have passed from this illness. The Cancer Society and the amazing work they do to support people is certainly close to all our minds and hearts at this time.
Thank you to everyone for contributing to this very worthy cause.

What a fabulous day!!! Congratulations to our wonderful tamariki who have worked hard throughout the past two terms to be ready for today. Thank you to Mrs Wells, Mrs Mair, Paula R and Mrs Dawson for leading it all with practices, organisation and everything else. Thank you to the wider school team for supporting, encouraging, rolling with timetable changes and helping with anything and everything including ironing, sorting, dressing etc. And finally thank you to our awesome whānau community for their support, encouragement, enthusiasm, patience and commitment to the children and the school to ensure the children have a wonderful experience and awesome memories year after year of this event. Arohanui to you all!

Congratulations Arthur and Charlotte who took part in the Dance NZ Made workshop at The Civic Theatre today. Representing La Muse Dance Studio and Salford School at this event they came away with the titles of Year 4 Champion and third place in Year 6.

Arthur also won a golden ticket (one of just seven to be presented) to attend the Dance NZ Made Nationals in Palmerston North and then was also one of two dancers to win an invitation to attend a training day with the New Zealand School of Dance in Wellington!

Stunning achievements for both Charlotte and Arthur and great opportunities ahead with the next steps for Arthur.

Huge congratulations to Abigail for this fantastic achievement! Abigail is a past Salford student and we were fortunate to hear her sing many times. A stunning voice. We look forward to seeing what other achievements Abigail has ahead of her.

Congratulations to Year 11 ākonga Abigail who won the Fiordland Matariki Star Search in the weekend. What a fantastic achievement!!!

Kia ora Whānau,
There are three important dates this week:
1. Monday 24th August - TEACHER ONLY DAY. There is no school for the children on Monday. The teachers are all off site working with the team from The Learner First (Rob Profitt White) on Maths teaching and learning.
2. Wednesday 26th August - POLYFEST DAY. The whole school is attending this event. Those not performing will be supporting those who are.
3. Friday 28th August - DAFFODIL DAY. Children are encouraged to add some yellow to their uniform (ribbons, badges, accessories -anything yellow NB: this is not a mufti day) and bring a gold coin to add to our coin trail to raise funds for the Cancer Society.
A busy week but a great week to celebrate, learn, share and enjoy!
