Dev Academy Aotearoa
At Dev Academy Aotearoa, you can be a web developer in 17 weeks. Creative, flexible and fast-paced. No technical background required.
Dev Academy Aotearoa is New Zealand’s premier full-immersion web development academy, with campuses in both Auckland and Wellington. Join our hands on web developer bootcamp – you’ll code from day zero and graduate as a confident, capable web developer with the skills you need to launch a new career.
"I don't think I'm smart enough for this."
That's the most common thing people tell us before they apply.
If that sounds familiar, come to our info evening on June 16th.
You'll hear from Harrison who had the same doubts. He joined Bootcamp from Queenstown, while living with his parents, and after his job hunt landed a dev role at First Table.

Did you hear our co-founder Joshua Vial on talking about the rise of Moltbook?
A hobbyist software project, advertised as the 'social network for AI agents', that's attracted hundreds of thousands of installs since launching earlier this week.
What are your thoughts on Moltbook? And at what point does agent-to-agent interaction become a product requirement rather than an emergent side effect?
Moltbook: The bot revolution? Not yet, says Joshua Vial It's been dubbed social media for AI and has whipped the tech world into a frenzy over the last week. On Moltbook, bots chat to each other, complain about humans and happily post their memes - much like humans do. Josh Vial, the co-founder of programming bootcamp Dev Academy Aotearoa spoke to Guyon....

Recently we celebrated a huge milestone for our full-time students who started our coding bootcamp in January. They gathered with their friends and whānau to present their final projects. As they finish their studies at Dev Academy, we can't wait to see where each of their tech journeys takes them! For photos of the Auckland event check out our Facebook album labelled Harakeke January 2025.

AMAZING COMMUNITY IMPACT STORY! ❤️
Last year, we ran our "AI for the Older Adult Sector" course,(fully funded by The Selwyn Foundation) and now one of those projects has come to life in Nelson!
A special element of the course: 3 projects were selected for implementation funding, allowing our technical team to build prototypes or proof-of-concepts. The Nelson Visitor Ambassador program was one of these winners!
When Nelson lost its visitor information center in June 2022 they needed a creative solution. The answer? A pilot program recruiting twelve retired locals as volunteer "visitor ambassadors" to help tourists on city streets. These friendly volunteers wear blue vests marked "Visitor Information Ambassador".
Our contribution was building an AI-powered knowledge base that draws information from trusted local sources including DOC, tourism businesses, and nelsontasman.nz. Ambassadors use this tool to quickly access up-to-date information for visitors.
What I love most about this project is seeing technology enhance meaningful roles for older adults rather than replacing human connection.
These ambassadors offer something no app can provide - local knowledge with a personal touch - while using AI to make their volunteer work more effective.
This is exactly why we're passionate about making AI accessible to everyone. When people with deep expertise in different sectors get hands-on with technology, amazing things happen!

We’re winding down for a holiday break!☀️
Our team is taking a few weeks off to spend time with friends and whānau over Christmas and the New Year. Our campuses will reopen on 6th January, ready to welcome our new cohorts!👩💻👨💻
If you’re still considering studying with us in the new year, it’s not too late — applications remain open for our January intake. A smaller team will be on hand to process these applications and answer any enrolment inquiries.
For all other inquiries, we’ll be back on board and responding to these from the 6th.
