Even we can't escape this one. And trust me, I tried to argue this one , when I first heard about it 😅
Content switching. It's not multitasking (yes, there IS a difference) — it's when your brain has to fully stop one task, shift gears, and start up on something completely different. Over and over again throughout the day.
On averge this costs you 26 mins. Every. Single. Day. Every. Single. Time.
Now I know what you're thinking — but we're better multitaskers than men. And honestly? You're probably right. But content switching isn't multitasking. It's the sneaky one. The tab-switching, email-checking, Slack-glancing, "I'll just quickly reply to this" kind of brain drain that quietly eats your most productive hours.
So here's what actually helps 👇
→ Dedicate a day per business or project.
If you're across multiple businesses or projects, give each one its own day. Your brain can go deep instead of constantly resetting.
→ Set email hours at the start and end of the day — and that's it.
Not every 10 minutes. Not the second your phone buzzes.
→ Block hours to work on ONE thing.
Pick the task. Block the time. Everything else gets muted. Single-focus work is genuinely a skill — and it compounds fast.
→ Know your priorities — and protect them.
This one's big. Other people's urgency is not your emergency. When you're clear on what matters most today, it's a lot easier to say no to the thing that just pinged, the "quick favour," or the meeting that could've been an email. Hold your boundaries. Your priorities deserve the same respect you give everyone else's.
You don't need more hours. You need your hours back.
Save this for the next time you catch yourself with 14 tabs open and somehow nothing done. 😂
