Matariki ki Waitaha 2026✨

He karanga tēnei ki Ngā Uho Tawa kia kotahi atu tātou ki runga o Wairākei, ki Te Moana o Punga.

I raro i ngā whetū o Matariki ka tuku atu tātou i ngā mate o te tau kua pahure, ka whāngai i ngā whetū, ka whakatakoto i ō tātou wawata mō te tau hou, ā, ka tū kotahi hei iwi.

As we welcome the Māori New Year, we invite our people to come together for our annual Matariki Hautapu ceremony & Hakari.

This sacred gathering is a time to remember those who have passed, offer gratitude for the blessings of the past year, nourish the stars of Matariki through hautapu, share our hopes and aspirations for the year ahead, and stand united as one people.

Event Details:
📍 Wairākei (Taylors Reserve), Pāpāmoa
📅 Saturday 11 July
🕠 Please arrive by 5:45am for the commencement of our hautapu (ceremonial proceedings).
🍽️ Breakfast: Hei Marae (following the Hautapu ceremony)

Please note:
• Taylors Reserve is currently undergoing construction, but the site remains accessible with limited parking available.
• Dress warmly as it is expected to be a very cold morning, with possible coastal winds.
• Feel free to bring a camp chair if you would like.

This is a significant occasion following an important year for our people. Together, we will honour those who have gone before us, embrace the present, and look forward to the future with hope, unity, and purpose.

We look forward to sharing this special Matariki with all of our whānau & community.

‼️UPDATE: Workshops now CANCELLED

Due to unforeseen circumstances, the 1080 community workshops scheduled for Friday 3 July and Saturday 4 July have now been cancelled.

If these workshops are rescheduled in the future, we will share the new dates with our community.

We would like to advise that all Grants and Scholarships for the 2026 Financial Year are now closed.

A heartfelt thank you to everyone who applied. We appreciate you sharing your aspirations with us and congratulate all applicants on your endeavours. We wish you every success on your journey.

Applications will reopen in the coming financial year, and we will let our whānau know as soon as new funding rounds become available.

Kia Ora Whānau, due to tangihanga - Workshops scheduled for this week have been postponed to the further dates of - Friday 3rd July, Saturday 4th July🌿

Hosted by taiāo activist Manu Caddie and Rakumara Pae Maunga Community Engagement Manager Ario Nepia, these workshops create space for whānau to deepen understanding about protecting our taonga, unpack myths and realities, and engage in healthy, respectful dialogue on important environmental issues.
