🧑‍⚕️Today we had a few sick and injured animals that needed our care. Dr Leo and Dr Reef did an amazing job removing prickles, wrapping sore heads with bandages, listening to heart beats 🩺 and giving shots 💉 or medicine to those who needed it and applying 🩹 bandaids 💜

The tamariki absolutely adore Romy and he loves being around them too !! They gave him some yummy spinach leaves for breakfast and listened with their taringa/ears as he was chewing so loudly 😆 He then thanked them by giving them kisses on their ringa/hands and Maddie especially found his kisses extremely ticklish 🥰
What a beautiful time spent between tamariki of all ages, socializing, learning about empathy, engaging in conversation, reminding each other to use 'gentle hands' and 'inside voices'.

We visited our nearest pet store, Animates, to get some treats for our gorgeous bunny Romy and left with 5 little fish that the tamariki helped pick out 🤭 The boys loved watching all the different coloured fish and pointed out that some were much larger than others. Most of the tanks had baby fish in them and we tried counting them but there were just too many !!
I just love these special experiences that I'm able to have with my care children 🥰

🥰 Perfect weather for snuggling up indoors with a good book or 2 🥰

Reading and storytelling with tamariki promotes brain development and imagination, develops language and emotions, and strengthens relationships.

Leo read a story to Tilly the cat, using a soft voice "shhhh she's sleeping Gigi"
And later, the boys were discussing all the animals in a book "look it's a bunny like yours Gigi" "they like grass and carrots" 💙

The tamariki and I enjoy going on adventures. We often find special taonga/treasures and take them home with us. We decided to share them with one of the most important people in our lives, our whaea/mother 💜
We turned our beautiful taonga/treasures into pot pouri. The tamariki then carefully selected what petals, leaves, sticks and other treasures they wanted to put into their jars. "Mmmmm smells nice" Leo said. "This is for my mum, Gigi" Zarah said. "I made this" Reef told Leo. "I made one too" Leo replied. The tamariki were so proud of the gifts they made 🥰

Look what the cat brought in 😳 Have you ever seen such a BIG caterpillar !! The tamariki and I weren't too sure about this very large creature. I did a quick Google and discovered that it's called a HornWorm. They are considered pests in NZ as they love and ruin people's tomato plants 🍅 🐛 They turn into big, beautiful moths, called the Hawkmoth. We were lucky enough to have some of these moths come visit us a few days later which was a great learning extension 💜

~working together, taking care of our babies~

Daddy was bathing the dirty babies whilst mummy was making 'water cakes' for dinner. Daddy said mummy was taking too long "babies are hungry" so helped mummy with the 'water cakes'.

"A role play area is a fun and a 'playful' activity but also a key component in children's learning. It is a social space that develops speaking and listening skills, as well as giving children the opportunity to reflect on and develop their knowledge of a topic, whilst sparking and enhancing creativity and imagination."

🎉happy new year everyone🎉

What a lovely start to our year. The tamariki enjoyed being back and got right back into it, taking care of their pēpē, changing nappies, dressing and feeding them 🥰 They also had lots of fun cooling off in the pool, splashing about 💦 I am so happy to have my tamariki back 💕
