The St Francis Xavier School Parents and Friends is a group of volunteers with two main goals:
1. Raising money to enhance the school resources and buildings &
2. Encourage a sense of school community. Parents and Friends run fundraising activities throughout the year such as Friday lunches and the school fair. In addition to fundraising Parents and Friends run events “just for fun” such as the s
chool picnic and disco. The programme of activities is agreed early in the year and is co-ordinated with the teaching staff to fit in with the busy school schedule. Over the last few years the money from fundraising has been spent on:
• Upgrade of toilets in the School Hall
• Earthquake strengthening of School Hall
• Classroom upgrades, carpet, desks and plumbing
• CD players for classrooms
• Books
• Sports equipment
• Listening stations
What can you do to help? The Parents and Friends committee meets monthly. Meetings are advertised in the school newsletter. We always like to see new faces so feel free to come to a meeting even if you don’t want to join as a committee member. Many parents and friends of the school contribute to the activities of Parents and Friends without attending regular meetings so if you are not a “meeting person” but wish to help out please ask the school secretary to point out a committee member.
