Life's too short to read books that make you fall asleep. What makes an action- packed page turner successful? This week I'm editing and assessing a local writer's thriller novel. It's a hero-driven, raunchy tale of wrong place, wrong time espionage, danger and love. An awesome read!

My sister and I do a lot of writing work together. Her company www.awaywithwords.co.nz is a writing agency based in Mt Maunganui, New Zealand. My daughter Jessica is a great writer too. I know I'll be reading her novels and screenplays in the future!

My day job is never dull! It's always full of colour and contrast. In the last week or two I've been writing about electricity, editing a personal story that started in East Germany, coming up with slogans for branding on a car, coming up with a message for the back of a business card, pitching travel story ideas and creating a brand story for a large corporate group.
