Here is our latest KiwiCan Newsletter!

A big thank you to Molly and Gabe for helping us complete our project for new shoe racks with Matua Paul and some keen woodworkers! .

This project came about through student voice (and a few teachers too!) who were getting frustrated with all the shoes getting in the way in the cloak bays of Whānau Kererū and Tui.

Matua Paul put his woodworking skills to good use, working alongside two groups of students over a few Fridays to design and build our wonderful new shoe racks.

A great example of our students identifying something that could be improved and then working together to make it happen. A huge thank you to Matua Paul, Molly and Gabe for supporting our tamariki with this project!

🌱 **Our greenhouse is up!** 🌱

We are so excited to see our new greenhouse taking shape and ready for some growing! A huge thank you to Matua Paul for all his hard mahi putting it together for us. We also love that he has been able to repurpose some of our old benches and turn them into shelving inside, such a great example of making the most of what we already have.

A very big thank you also to Porkypig Hawira for generously donating the greenhouse to our kura — we are incredibly grateful for your support!

Now comes the exciting part… getting some seeds planted! 🌱 We can’t wait to start growing plants ready for next term’s Garden to Table programme, as well as getting some seedlings underway for our upcoming Ag Day & Country Fair. Hopefully, we will have plenty growing that our tamariki can sell on the day too!

Another awesome addition to our school and so many opportunities for hands-on learning ahead.

We’re Hiring for 2027!

Due to our growing roll, Rangiuru School has two full-time teaching positions available for 2027:

One permanent position
One fixed-term position

We are looking for enthusiastic and effective teachers who build strong relationships, have high expectations for learners, and are keen to contribute to the wider life of our rural school.

A leadership opportunity carrying two permanent units is available for a suitably experienced applicant. This opportunity is not a requirement for either the permanent or fixed-term position. Applicants who wish to be considered for the leadership opportunity are invited to indicate this in their application.

AIMS Games 2026 ... that's a wrap!

What an incredible week for our amazing Indoor Bowls Team!
The week began with our team attending the AIMS Games Opening Ceremony. This was an amazing experience that created plenty of excitement and set the scene for the week ahead.

We are incredibly proud of the way our team represented Rangiuru School throughout the competition. It was another very successful year, with Macey and River making it through to the singles finals, and Macey and Zeppelin, and Faith and Molly*qualifying for the pairs finals. This was an outstanding achievement on such a big stage! Every member of the team showed wonderful sportsmanship, determination and school pride.

We feel incredibly fortunate to have this world-class sporting event right on our doorstep. The AIMS Games give our tamariki a special opportunity to compete, challenge themselves, make memories and be part of something truly exciting.

A very big thank you to Whaea Tash and Hayley, who made this experience possible through all their organisation, time and support. We are so grateful for everything you did for our team!

We would also like to thank the Te Puke Citizens RSA Indoor Bowls Section for helping our team practise in the lead-up to the Games. Your time, expertise and encouragement were greatly appreciated and helped prepare our players for the competition.

Ka mau te wehi, team! We could not be prouder of you all!

Firewise + Persuasive Writing Combo!

This week is all about Firewise and persuasive writing in our junior school!

Lincoln has put the two together and created this amazing piece of writing completely independently. What a fantastic example of all the learning he has been doing!

One of the absolute highlights of my week is when tamariki show up at my door, proud to share their learning with me. I love getting to see just how much progress they have made and how far they have come already this year.

**CALLING ALL STALLHOLDERS!**

We are getting ready for our Rangiuru School Ag Day & Country Fair on Saturday 17th October 2026 11am - 3pm, and we are now opening our stall spaces to the wider community!

If you make, create or grow your own products, we would love to have you join us for what is always a fantastic community day.

Stalls are just $10 each and are for homemade, handcrafted or homegrown products only. Tables only.

Stall spaces are limited and we expect them to fill quickly, so if you would like to secure a spot, please get in touch soon.

We had a very exciting surprise at assembly today!

A huge thank you to Jeremy from Team Arun Mehan Bayleys Real Estate who came along to surprise our Year 7 & 8 AIMS Games team with an awesome prize we won thanks to our amazing community getting behind us and commenting on the Bayleys AIMS Games giveaway!

Our team received a fantastic chilly bin, drink bottles and a $250 New World voucher – perfect for keeping everyone hydrated and well fed during AIMS Games week, 7–11 September.

To add to the excitement, our AIMS Games students were also presented with their AIMS Games T-shirts, ready to wear proudly during the week.

We feel incredibly lucky to have so many people in our wider community supporting our tamariki. Our team is looking very sharp and getting excited – not long to go now!

Congratulations to all of our certificate recipients this fortnight!

We are continuing our focus on Ako this term, and it was wonderful to hear about the many ways our tamariki are showing this value through their everyday classroom learning — working hard, staying focused, taking pride in their mahi, contributing to class discussions, supporting others, and making positive choices in their learning.
