Preparing for our Fire Fighter Visit...🔥

Our tamariki have been enjoying lots of creative imaginative play and dramatic role play as of late. We have been exploring roles such as doctors, family play, makeup artists, dentists and hair dressers.

The tamariki practiced putting out fires in anticipation of our Fire Fighters visit. 🔥
Such a great way to strenthen those fine motor skills and hand and eye coordination.

Last week, HGK in Nature:

Our tamariki have been deeply engaged with books and imaginative play lately, and 'We're Going on a Bear Hunt' has captured their hearts. Colour exploration and recognition is also unfolding too. 🌈

For our Nature Playgroup, combining these elements was a no-brainer! 💭

Inspired by the book's adventurous spirit, the tamariki joyfully embarked on a quest to find coloured bears hidden amidst the bush by our VT. Tamariki chanting and echoing the familiar lines 'We're going to catch a big one!', 'We're not scared'. What a wonderful morning we spent in nature, embracing curiosity and creativity, as we followed the tamariki's interests and brought their learning together in a fun and exciting way. 👣

POV: Nature becomes the playground, the classroom and the imagination all at once! 🌿🍂

Today’s colour scavenger hunt led us through crunchy leaves, dancing under the trees and tiny discoveries hidden in every corner.

Clipboards in hand, our tamariki searched for colours in the natural world — finding beauty in leaves, bark, flowers and all the little treasures nature provides 🤎

And somewhere along the way, a tree stump full of leaves became a warm bowl of porridge… because that’s the magic of childhood in nature! 🍃

🌿🍂 Exploring nature’s backyard...🌳

Nature is the invitation, play is the learning. 💛
Today was filled with bark rubbings, mossy discoveries, “pirate treasure” collecting, crunchy autumn leaves, playground fun, and listening carefully for the beautiful tui singing high above us. 🐦✨

There’s something special about slowing down outdoors, noticing textures, hearing birdsong, collecting treasures, and letting curiosity lead the way. 🌱

Spreading a little bit of kindness 🩷

We celebrated Pink Shirt Day early at Playgroup with a special Pink themed day, focusing on kindness. During our session, we explored ways to demonstrate kindness to one another, such as offering help, checking in on friends who might be feeling sad, or simply sharing and including everyone in our play.

🌊 Sea Week fun!

Exploring the ocean through sensory play, little hands were busy discovering shells, oobleck, sea creatures and water play.

Moments like these spark curiosity, creativity and a love for our oceans from the very beginning. 🐢💙
