After 10 years, we are bidding a fond farewell to our wonderful cleaner, Mandy, as she sets off on her well-deserved retirement.

We celebrated her at school today with a lovely send-off to show her just how much she means to all of us.

Mandy has been an absolute rock and a true "Super Staff" member of our team. For a decade, she has kept our school sparkling, always working behind the scenes with dedication, care, and a warm smile.

While we are going to miss her terribly, we couldn't be happier for her as she begins this exciting new chapter.

AIMS Update

Orienteering
Earlier this week, Finn, Harley, Josh and Luca competed in the individual and team Rogaine orienteering events. They all had a great time, enjoyed the challenge and had lots of fun out on the course.

Mountain Biking
Yesterday, Oscar competed in the mountain biking cross-country event. There were huge numbers competing in his age group. Oscar was happy with how the event went and gave it his all. Today, he is taking on the mountain biking enduro event!

Badminton
George has had a great time competing in badminton. He started in a pool of six players and picked up three wins before the players were organised into divisions. George was placed in Division 3, where he had some very close games and played really well, including an exciting 29–31 match!
Today, George is playing doubles with a student from Mount Intermediate.

Rippa
Rippa had their final two games today!
Congratulations to Alex, who received the Sportsmanship Medal, and to Stella, who was runner up. What a fantastic achievement!

It has been awesome seeing our students getting involved, meeting new people, challenging themselves and making the most of their AIMS experience. We are so proud of the way they have represented our school!

Room 7 has been exploring forces and simple machines with Mrs Bay. We have been learning about pushes and pulls, and how forces can make objects move, stop or change direction.
We have also discovered how the Ancient Egyptians used simple machines to help them move heavy stones and build amazing structures, such as the pyramids. The children have had lots of fun getting hands-on by making and testing their own simple machines, including levers and inclined planes.

Today, we created jumping frogs to see forces in action and carried out experiments to investigate how friction affects the movement of objects across different surfaces.

It has been a fun, hands-on way to see how the science we learn about works in the real world!

Congratulations to Saskia for competing in the AIMS Rock Climbing competition yesterday! 🧗‍♀️ She completed 2/4 top rope and 2/3 boulder routes, and achieved a new personal best in her speed climb. She showed grit and determination. Well done, Saskia!

We’re excited to introduce Super Staff - a special way for our students to celebrate the amazing people who make Pyes Pā School such a great place to be!

Every couple of weeks, we’ll be shining the spotlight on a different staff member, celebrating the incredible work they do, the difference they make for our students, and all the little things they do behind the scenes that help our school thrive.

Our students Lulu and Pippa will be creating a short video to showcase each Super Staff member, giving them the chance to share what makes that person special.

Because at Pyes Pā School, everyone has a superpower — and we want to celebrate it! 🌟
