Bridging the gap and opening up the world for our tamariki!
Learning for us is all about balance. While we are incredibly proud of our digital spaces, we believe true success lies in blending the new with the foundational.
Traditional learning - reading a physical book, practising writing with pen and paper, mastering maths on a notepad, and using proven teaching methods remains absolutely vital to how we teach every single day. Modern technology doesn't replace these core skills; it enhances them.
A couple of years ago, our incredible community went viral, helping us win Noel Leeming’s first-ever Class of the Future competition. Today, we are sharing a look at exactly how that digital boost is supporting our balanced approach to learning at Mangakino School. True modern education isn't just about dropping off boxes of gadgets. It is about creating an environment where every single student has equal, personalised access to the world.
Thanks to this initiative, our classrooms have completely transformed to offer the best of both worlds:
Our tamariki now have individual access to touchscreen Lenovo Chromebooks to drive their own research and learning journeys alongside traditional work.
Teachers are using giant interactive MaxHub screens to record lessons and upload them straight to Google Classroom. If a student needs to review a concept at home, it's there for them, anytime, anywhere.
Brand new, smooth furniture allows students to collaborate comfortably or focus beautifully on independent pen-and-paper tasks.
A massive, heartfelt thank you to Sam Gibson (Education Sector Lead) and the entire Noel Leeming Commercial team. Sam and his team didn't just deliver gear; they have acted as trusted advisers, working alongside us to ensure our teachers are supported, and our tech is set up to truly enhance our daily pedagogy, not distract from it.
We also want to acknowledge the school board, our whānau, and everyone who rallied behind our original video. Because of your collective effort, our kids continue to receive a well-rounded, top-tier education.
