Swanson Playcentre Playcentre philosophy is based on child-initiated play and recognises the parents as the first and best educators of their own children.

Swanson Playcentre is a parent-led centre, play-filled haven for tamariki 0–6. 💛✨
Come explore, make mess, make memories, and grow together with our awesome whānau community. 🫶 Playcentre families receive a unique early childhood experience with opportunities for whanau/families to learn together.

MESSY PLAY WEEK IS BACK!!! 🤗 Next week, 2-6 March.

There’s no “right way” to do messy play.

Research shows the real benefits lie in the open-ended nature of play. Tamariki follow their own creative processes, practise new skills, solve problems, and share the wonder of exploring with their senses.

And at Playcentre, play (and especially messy play!) is what we’re all about.

We’ve got lots of messy fun planned throughout the week, so come along with your tamariki (aged 0–6 years) on: Monday, Tuesday, Thursday and Friday - with a hat, sun block, kai + water and definitely change of clothes!! 🙌 we hope to see you there.

Thank you for all your support The Trusts

Swanson Playcentre once again proved why it remains such a beloved cornerstone of their West Auckland community when they hosted their recent Community Day reflecting the welcoming spirit of Swanson.

The event was the latest in the Playcentre’s long tradition of providing a nurturing, community-led space for tamariki and their whānau.

The Trusts were proud to stand alongside Swanson Playcentre, contributing $250 worth of Trusts Gift Cards used as prizes throughout the day, alongside the free loan of two gazebos valued at $350 to save the Playcentre significant hireage costs, ensuring guests could enjoy comfortable, sheltered spaces throughout the day.

"This is more than a principle; it is a promise to each one of those tamariki and their whānau and our communities, that partnership, equity, and respect will remain at the heart of everything we do at Playcentre."

Giving effect to Te Tiriti o Waitangi - a statement from our Board

Te Whānau Tupu Ngātahi, Playcentre Aotearoa and our 390 ECE Centres stand with kura and schools across Aotearoa that continue to give effect to Te Tiriti o Waitangi despite recent legislative changes.

Joining the many schools and education providers that have confirmed their commitment, our stance is clear: giving effect to Te Tiriti o Waitangi is not negotiable. Our identity, our governance, and our practice are underpinned by Te Tiriti o Waitangi and Partnership between tangata whenua and tangata tiriti.

We affirm our commitment to honouring Te Tiriti o Waitangi in every aspect of educating more than 14,000 tamariki, our decision-making, and our governance.

This is more than a principle; it is a promise to each one of those tamariki and their whānau and our communities, that partnership, equity, and respect will remain at the heart of everything we do at Playcentre.

It is a pledge to the countless generations of whānau that have called a Playcentre “our village”, and all those who will entrust us with their tamariki mokopuna for generations to come.

We acknowledge the decades of work by thousands of Playcentre people, who have embedded our commitment to Te Tiriti o Waitangi throughout our organisation, from the sandpit to the Board table. Our two-house governance model is a powerful expression of this commitment.

A cornerstone of our governance practice, it ensures that Te Tiriti o Waitangi is integral to every decision as mandated by our Trust Deed, Rules, and Philosophy. We know equity, respect and Tiriti-based partnership are essential to delivering high quality education and best outcomes for all learners.

We stand united with kura, schools and other education providers in upholding Te Tiriti o Waitangi.
